This Chateau is absolutely amazing and if you're traveling between Saint Etienne and Clermont Ferrand definitely worth an overnight stay. The rooms have been restored with an authentic medieval style with all the modern amenities. Isabel is a very charming host and will prepare gourmet meals if asked. Don't miss it!

Its a really neat/cool place to stay for a night. The chateau is a little run down (as expected as its construction started in 1231), but that adds to its charm. The hotel room was beautiful and clean. The only issue was pink/orange mould on the bottom of the shower curtain.
We also had the best meal on our Southern France trip at a nearby restaurant (Authentique restaurant).

We loved our stay. The property owner and host Isabelle is a lovely woman who made sure our stay was enjoyable. She called a made reservations for us at a local restaurant that accomodated us late in the evening. The castle itself was incredible. Amenities were as described, we were very comfortable. The breakfast was great. I would love to return again one day.

Not for everyone as the location is remote. Plan on renting a car to get there. Breathtaking views, clean air and a step back in time. Only stayed 1 night as part of a romp across France. Plan to go back and spend a few days to properly explore. And yes, it’s a real castle!

Oh what can I say! This was such a wonderful experience for my daughter and I. The chateau is breathtakingly beautiful, restored and cared for my the amazing Isabel who looked after us and everything single handed my! She’s like a Wonder Woman! The rooms were just amazing, exactly what we’d hoped for and the location is so peaceful - a perfect base for exploring the beautiful area Isabel prepared us dinner which was medieval style - the home made soups flans and meat dishes were all incredible and testament to Isabel’s amazingness!! I would 100 perfect re one d a stay. It took my breath away and was a real memory maker trip Huge gratitude to Isabel for her hard work and dedication and to Tammy at Dial a Flight for finding this absolute gem for our itinerary

Nos enfants nous ont offert une nuit au chateau et nous sommes allés à Chalmazel d'abord nous les remercions et nous avons été ravis de l'accueil Isabelle une personne très accueillante souriante nous a concoctée un bon diner ' soupe de melon - cuisse de pintade confite avec carottes fromages et une pavlova délicieuse. Nous avons dormi dans la chambre Renaissance très bonne literie et surtout une propreté irréprochable Le petit déjeuner très copieux au choix. et nous remercions le guide pour la visite du chateau. Nous recommandons ce lieu insolite. Merci encore à vous deux et bonne continuation
