Everything was just OK and at £300.00 a night I expected a little more , everything was clean and tidy , the staff were good but there was no wow factor ( apart from the scenery) The leisure facility was like a municipal leisure centre we stayed about 1/2 hour . The restaurant was OK for the evening meal , the food and especially the drinks were quite pricey. Breakfast the next day was self service , the food was not hot and not that good . The estate is like staying in a village with all the facilities in different buildings , the rooms ,the leisure facilities, and the restaurant. Which was not that great when it rained . Like other reviewers I didn’t read the reviews and was taken in by the website ( which is not clear what you get in the Langdale package ) in fact I was surprised to receive an email asking me if I wanted to spend a further £170.00 to use the Brimstone Spa facilities. As the photos of the Brimstone and standard leisure facilities were somewhat mixed up on the website it was not clear what was included. Two very positive issues though : There was a mixup with the payments my restaurant bill was taken twice on my card , this was resolved before I raised it once we got home . When we were about 10 minutes away from the hotel after checking out we got a call to say the chamber maid had found my ring on the bedside table and brought it up to reception, my fault great sentimental value and financial value. Great honesty from their staff . I am sorry we won’t be back , Langdale , either give more or charge less .

This is in an idyllic location, with stunning surroundings. The accomodation is beautiful hotel rooms or lodges, as well as a Spa and pub on the estate. The hotel room was finished to a high standard. The Stove restaurant was great for breakfast and evening dining, as well as Wainwrights Pub for a great bar meal. Another local pub is only 5 minutes walk out of the estate. A very peaceful, relaxing stay and other busier places such as Ambleside or Windermere only about 20 minutes drive away.

The most perfect location that I will return to. The room overlooking the lake was just stunning. Staff were brilliant, the view is sublime and the Food & Drink options are brilliant. Gluten-free and vegan options plentiful. I highly recommend for couples and families

Fab staff, gorgeous rooms and stunning food in The Stove. Spa needs to be extended to match the growing accommodation. Didn't get chance to do much in the spa because it was so busy. They also stop serving food very early in the spa deli so be prepared to go all day without eating if you have treatments booked in the afternoon. Long waits at reception. Check your bill as they do try to charge for things you haven't had or received.

Booked a nights stay in a waterside room with spa at Brimstone, 3 course evening meal and breakfast for my mother in laws 60th birthday. I’m never one to leave negative reviews but considering how expensive it is here and how it’s advertised as luxury holidays and luxury spa breaks in the Lake District it was a serious disappointment. The grounds and the room we had (174) was absolutely gorgeous. So clean and really well maintained. It’s set in such a beautiful part of the lakes with amazing views of langdale. The Wainrights Inn is great, lovely pub with gorgeous views from their beer garden and the food although we didn’t eat looked lovely and prices were really reasonable. The Brimstone spa was a huge disappointment. We were given a leaflet with of which rooms to use in which order for the heat and cold experience problem was 4 of them were totally out of order! What’s the point in giving guests that guidance when they know there’s so much not working. No one even mentioned it to us when we checked into the spa so it was really disappointing when we soon realised. I’ve done quite a few spas with all of them much more reasonably priced and can honestly say the Brimstone spa was totally underwhelming. We had a reservation for dinner at the Stove and went early so we could enjoy a drink outside before dinner. The service was shocking! One guy on the bar and the rest of the staff just stood chatting whilst customers waited an age to be served. Menu options out of stock and the food wasn’t good at all. One of the starters we had was buttermilk chicken and the chicken wasn’t edible - it was a pure ball of fat/gristle. Staff didn’t even ask if the food was ok despite it all being left. We had to awkwardly inform them it wasn’t edible. The rest of the food was below average and lukewarm. For somewhere that charges almost £500 for the package we got it was a complete disappointment. I wouldn’t recommend at all. You expect when paying that sort of money you’ll get great service, facilities and quality food but it just wasn’t the case here. I did pass my comments onto management who initially offered to give us 2 free drinks! 2 drinks on an almost £500 package that was in my opinion completely not worth it isn’t acceptable. They’ve now offered a £50 voucher to spend with them for when I next return however not sure I’d bother returning and spending any more money here. Appreciate they’ve acknowledged and hopefully they sort things out as it could be unreal. My advice would be - book somewhere else. If it’s a special occasion there’s several others in the lakes that are much nicer. Or just book a trusty YHA private room and go explore the natural beauty the lakes has to offer!

Was excited to go to what we thought would be a 5 star stay as reflected in the price, stayed in a waterside room which was excellent however spa was clean yet underwhelming, most of the steam rooms/saunas were closed and out of service, food at the stove restaurant was well presented but average and we had to wait 2 hours between starters and mains in a pretty quiet restaurant while watching people who arrived after us finish their meals while were still sat waiting, the staff gave us our drinks for free as an apology but I would have expected more, breakfast was basic. Overall the hotel itself was great but the service was not! Not worth the price at all!

Very disappointing visit to this hotel. Our concerns have been conveyed privately and constructively to the hotel management. Eventually, we received an unsatisfactory response. Sadly, we won’t be visiting again. Overrated is a perfect description for this hotel I am afraid to say.

Xmas day let down I understand Xmas break don’t come cheap. Booked this break 4 months in advance and it was meant to be a proper treat me and my girlfriend were really looking for. Quite disorganised staff from the beginning replying to my emails but I still wanted to give it a go. More than £500 per head for a really underwhelming Xmas break. Set menu £110 per head excluding drinks for a set menu which was really below average. Main course beef wellington was a disgrace, cold meat with soggy pastry and luke warm sides. Service beyond slow, we had our drinks (paid on top of the food) after our starters. Xmas Eve buffet (as promised) non existent, paid £26 for two pizza which were just bad. Spa on Boxing Day: really below average treatments for £135 per head (x 2) When given feedback, the checking out receptionist apologised and asked me if I would take a feedback call which never arrived. GM: are you really bothered? I don’t think so. Langdale guys: when you charge PREMIUM prices (which people like me would pay on Xmas day) you must to deliver. You guys miserably failed.
