Overall, the property has a pleasant concept, and the surrounding greenery creates a very nice jungle‑resort, exotic atmosphere. The natural environment is well‑designed and enjoyable but my 2 nights stay came with several issues that future guests may want to be aware of. Considering the price, there are much better options in the area that offer a more comfortable experience and better facilities. 1. Privacy & Layout The architectural layout offers very limited privacy. From the balcony, neighboring rooms are directly visible, which made it difficult to use the outdoor space comfortably. 2. Cleanliness & Hygiene Some areas of the room were not thoroughly cleaned. The built‑in storage under the bed had visible dust and dirt, making it unsuitable for storing clean clothes.In the shower area, the pebble‑style floor creates many hard‑to‑clean corners. Before I even used the shower, I noticed hair and even ***** hair trapped between the stones. During showering, water drained extremely slowly, causing the floor to flood and submerge above my feet under standing water. This design makes the area prone to bacteria buildup and was uncomfortable to use, especially for female guests during sensitive times. 3. Bathroom Fixtures The handheld bidet spray had extremely strong pressure and ice‑cold water, which made it uncomfortable to use—especially for women during sensitive days. 4. Safety & Property Layout The property’s terrain is quite complex, with multiple staircases and uneven levels. At night, many areas are poorly lit, which can be unsafe if guests are not watching their step. Some decorative reflective pieces hanging from trees also create a rather unsettling atmosphere after dark.The corridor near my room remained unlit at night, making the area feel dim and uncomfortable. Additionally, during rainy weather, several outdoor areas accumulated water, making certain paths slippery and less safe to walk through. 5. Room FacilitiesvThe room does not have a wardrobe or proper clothing hangers. The only hanging option is a decorative tree‑branch style rack, which is suitable for small items but not for clothing. As a result, clothes can only be placed on the balcony, where humidity and rain make it difficult to keep them dry.vThere is also no bedside lamp or reading light, which makes the room not work‑friendly.vAdditionally, there is no luggage rack or storage space, so suitcases must be kept on the floor throughout the stay. 6. Condition of FacilitiesvMany parts of the property appear worn down and in need of maintenance. In the dining area, several corners and edges show visible deterioration, and I noticed areas with water leakage. Overall, the facilities feel quite aged and could benefit from repairs and updates. 7. Service & CommunicationvThere is no phone in the room, and front desk service ends around 10 PM. Even after I added the property’s contact information, my door was still knocked on at night despite having a “Do Not Disturb” sign displayed. Complimentary water was provided, but only when requested; it was not proactively replenished. 8. Deposit & BreakfastvThe property requires a cash deposit upon arrival, which feels unusual considering the age and condition of the facilities. Breakfast was provided, but the quality was noticeably lower compared to other homestays in the area. 9. Additional Safety ConcernsvI found a sharp, hard plastic piece in a dish I ordered. I pulled it out from my mouth, and I almost swallowed it. The meal was remade, but the original dish was not waived.vThe bathroom door lock also malfunctioned once. There were also quite a few jumping spiders in the room due to the environment, likely because regular insect control is not performed. I requested insect spray from the front desk, and they did respond quickly and helped resolve it.

I extended my stay for two more days after the first night, and I'm extremely satisfied! Besides the excellent facilities and environment (honestly, for this price and quality, it's incredible value for money), the hotel also helps with SPA bookings and offers free airport transfers. The service is truly thoughtful. I slept wonderfully. The breakfast is delicious, and the daily in-room snacks are a special touch (they're different every day). If you want a comfortable, quiet stay in Chiang Mai, this place is definitely worth it.

Hotel Aono (Chiang Mai) – Deluxe King Room Review If you are looking for a clean, quiet, and well-located boutique base for a city break in Chiang Mai, Hotel Aono in the Chang Khlan area is a fantastic 3-star choice. It masterfully balances a minimalist, modern aesthetic with genuine Thai hospitality.  Here is a breakdown of what to expect from their Deluxe King Room setup. The Room & Bed Comfort The Deluxe King Room offers a generous 31 m² (334 sq ft) of space, giving it a much more open and bright feel than the tighter standard options. The design language is heavily inspired by contemporary Japanese and Thai minimalism clean lines, uncluttered wooden features, and tile flooring.  The King Bed: The focal point of the room is an exceptionally comfortable, large king-size bed equipped with crisp, high quality linens. It strikes the perfect balance between supportive and plush, making it an excellent retreat after a long day of walking through the Old City. Amenities: The room features a flat-screen TV with satellite channels, free high-speed Wi-Fi, an electric kettle, a dedicated sitting/work area, and incredibly strong, reliable air conditioning (vital for dealing with the Chiang Mai heat). The Bathroom: Includes a modern layout with a spacious walk-in shower, a separate toilet, a hair dryer, and plenty of fresh towels and complimentary toiletries.  Atmosphere & Views Most Deluxe King units are positioned on the ground floor with peaceful views looking directly out toward the hotel’s courtyard garden and the year-round outdoor swimming pool. A Quick Tip on Ground Floor Rooms: Because the windows look out over the central pool area, the natural light is wonderful. However, keep in mind that sound insulation from the courtyard can occasionally be a little thin if other guests are chatting loudly by the pool or walking past your door. Location Perks The property is tucked down a quiet alleyway right next to the revitalized Khlong Mae Kha canal, making it highly scenic for evening strolls.  While it sits just outside the immediate bustle of the Old City walls, the location is incredibly strategic: Chiang Mai Night Bazaar: A short, easy walk away.  Tha Phae Gate / Old City: Easily reachable within a few minutes by foot or a quick grab taxi. Local Cafes: Right next door to great neighborhood coffee spots like A Day In Chiangmai Coffee Brew. “ the Deluxe King Room at Hotel Aono punches well above its weight class. The housekeeping team keeps the entire property spotlessly clean, and the friendly, attentive staff make you feel welcome the moment you walk in. It is highly recommended for couples or solo travelers who want an affordable, highly aesthetic, and peaceful sanctuary.”

I really enjoyed my stay at Away Chiang Mai Thapae Resort - A Vegan Retreat. The biggest highlight is its excellent location, very close to Tha Phae Gate and other major attractions. It's super convenient for exploring the Old City and the walking street market. Getting around is easy; Grab rides are affordable. There are also plenty of restaurants and cafes around the hotel. The hotel's atmosphere is quiet, private, and feels very safe. Although the entrance is a bit deep into an alley, it actually contributes to a restful stay, free from outside disturbances. The hotel itself is clean, lush, and has green spaces that make for a relaxing experience throughout your visit. Overall, it's a place in Chiang Mai I'd love to return to. It's perfect for those who want to explore the Old City and also for anyone looking for a peaceful retreat in the heart of the city.

The hotel was convenient, but on the first night, a woman mistakenly came to our room, knocking and banging on the door in the middle of the night, which was a bit scary. Luckily, after I called, she left. The location is excellent, very convenient for getting around, and the triple room is great for families with kids. The water pressure in the bathroom faucet was a bit low, but otherwise, everything was good.

Nice size rooms with kingsize beds and excellent cleanliness. Easy to get a grab or other transportation to get around. Maya shopping mallbis really close by. Only issue is that staff don’t have much recommendations on things to do or see and the tv entertainment doesn’t work so not much amenities at the hotel to do. Couldn’t log into apps.

I love creating reviews and social content — especially about ryokan-style stays and onsen experiences. There may be more ryokans in Thailand now, but when a friend recommended Chez Nij Ryokan Onsen, I was genuinely impressed from the moment I arrived. The blend of Thai, Japanese, and French influences is beautifully unique. Even more special is the history — this was once the residence of the former Governor of Chiang Mai. The house is filled with antiques, charm, and character. Stepping inside feels warm, welcoming, and truly homely. The owner, a doctor and grandson of the former governor, personally cares for guests and shared meaningful stories about the residence — an honor I won’t forget. Location-wise, it’s peaceful yet convenient. Nimmanhaemin Road is only 8 minutes away, perfect for dining and shopping. Even returning around 1 AM, the owner and night manager were still there to welcome me. The alley is well lit, quiet, and safe, with another hotel and a tennis court next door. A 7-Eleven is just a 5-minute walk away on the main road. I stayed in the Studio Room with onsen access — incredibly private and peaceful. The tatami design is beautiful, the bed unbelievably soft, and the air quality excellent (my usual dust allergies improved after just one night). The complimentary minibar was a lovely bonus. Direct onsen access from the room is available in the morning only. During female and male sessions, the private door is securely locked and entry is through the changing room — a very safe and thoughtful system. The open-air onsen is stunning — inspired by the winter sea of Hokkaido and said to be one of the largest in Chiang Mai. Cleanliness and hygiene standards are outstanding. The mineral water left my skin noticeably smoother and deeply hydrated, unlike other onsens I’ve tried. The schedule is very well organized, with separate time slots and thorough cleaning between sessions. I checked in at 3 PM and immediately enjoyed the women’s session. After 5:30 PM, guests are asked to leave for routine cleaning and to dry off properly to prevent slipping — a clear reflection of their commitment to safety and hygiene. Soaking at 7:30 AM in the cool morning air truly felt like having a private hot spring. Breakfast is served as a generous full set — so abundant I couldn’t finish it all — yet the staff still offered more. Everything was delicious, and the chef personally came to serve and chat, adding such a thoughtful touch. In the evening, a complimentary mini tea set (9–10 PM) made the stay even more charming. I wrote this from the heart to reflect the genuine care I received. It was absolutely worth it, and I’m so glad I followed my friend’s recommendation. I’ll definitely return to Chez Nij whenever I’m back in Chiang Mai.

A beautiful serendipitous spot to relax. Staff are all friendly and have high service mindset. I asked for Khao Soi which is not on menu and they did it for me. Surprisingly the dish was so delicious, one of good Khao Soi bowls I had. All details in the hotel are so well-curated. A location is good, nearby Wat U-mong which is nice to visit by walking. Not too far to go to center of a city. Lovely experience staying there.

Pros -free teatime meak (fruits) -only once per room no matter how long you stayed. -free shutter to airport ( we stayed 5 nights so the hotel provided a free shutter to airport). - Night market next to the hotel ( Anusarn Market) - Nice room deco and receptions -Include breakfast for room booking - motorbike rental nearby Cont -No sound proof ( can hear clearly what next room was talking) if you dont mind then okay to stay Add on: 1. accident happened to our room, air con water leakage ( heavy leakage ) after told reception then they repaired it immediately 2. Flood in our room when raining ( water goes inside room and caused to floor wet and wet alot)

If you want a room with good price located inside old town then you should consider this place. However there are some pro and con for your information. Pro: reasonable price. Great location. Friendly staffs swimming pool. Con: room should be a bit more clean than that. AC was really loud.
