Large rooms and staff are very friendly. Breakfast is one of the best I had; and I travel a lot.

Unsafe pool steps caused injury – beware! We stayed at Le Méridien Chiang Rai Resort for three nights in early September. Unfortunately, my wife was seriously injured while entering the swimming pool. She slipped on the extremely slippery stone steps and cut her wrist badly, which is still under treatment back in Korea. The pool stairs are made of smooth stone, which becomes dangerously slippery when wet. This design is a serious safety hazard, and it is unacceptable for a luxury resort to ignore such a risk. I strongly urge the management to immediately fix this issue before more guests get injured. No one should have to go through the pain and ongoing medical treatment my wife is facing. For future guests: please be extremely careful when using the pool.

I had a wonderful stay at Le Méridien Chiang Rai Resort. Everything from the service to the room and surroundings was excellent. The staff were friendly, the atmosphere was peaceful, and the facilities were well-maintained. Highly recommended for a relaxing getaway.

Summary I stayed at this riverside hotel and overall had a very pleasant stay. The location is excellent for short taxi trips into town, the spa was a highlight and the bar food and drinks were excellent. Service-wise they were helpful (they arranged drivers for us). The one real downside was the buffet breakfast, which offered very little for vegetarians. My experience I found the hotel comfortable and relaxing. The riverside setting gives it a calm vibe, and it’s only a short taxi ride to the town centre — handy when you want to get out and explore. We spent an afternoon in the spa and both the massage and the facilities were excellent; it was definitely one of the best parts of our stay. Food & drink The bar was a pleasant surprise: the food we tried there was tasty and the drinks were very well made. It was a nice spot for an evening drink and casual dining. Service Staff were friendly and proactive. They were very helpful organising transport — first getting us a local driver, and later arranging a driver to take us on to Chiang Mai, which made travel logistics easy. Location Riverside position is great for atmosphere, and the short taxi ride to town makes it convenient without being in the centre. Good for a quieter base with easy access to sights. Downside The buffet breakfast was disappointing for vegetarians — options were limited, so if you don’t eat meat you may find breakfast choices sparse. If you’re vegetarian I’d recommend checking whether the kitchen can make something off‑menu, or planning to eat elsewhere. Would I recommend it? Yes — especially if you value a relaxed riverside setting, a strong spa and good bar food, and need help with local transport. If you’re vegetarian and rely on hotel breakfasts, be aware the buffet selection is limited.
