Buck Island and its white beaches can be seen to the east, and, on the frequently clear days, so can Saint John and the British Virgin Islands, some 40 miles across the Caribbean to the north. Sailboats bob in the harbor and every hour throughout the day seaplanes can be seen taking off for the 20-minute flight to Saint Thomas.
