Hotel Casa Merlin

Great chill hotel in a quieter part of the Puerto Viejo area. Our rooms were cleaned and towels replenished every day. Each room has a nice mini patio at the front door. A/C, fan, frig and shower worked great. They have a good communal kitchen with drinking water (their tap water is from the well and not potable). Pool and outdoor garden is nice. No breakfast provided, but they do leave out coffee and cookies all day, and have tea in the kitchen. Loved the location, near Papaya and Spicy Coconut, Jaguar Rescue Center, and the beach. We used the bikes a couple times. They are pretty rusty and can use a little love. Understandable, considering the humid environment they are stored in. The first bike I used froze up while out and about. They were super attentive via Whatsapp, offered to send a tuktuk and refund the rental fee. Would definitely stay there again, fantastic value for the price.

We have just spent a week staying at the beautiful Casa las Nubes in Tulemar. This totally stunning villa has everything we could have wanted as the perfect holiday home. It has a lovely open feel throughout the kitchen and front room with light flooding in everywhere. The wonderful views from the infinity pool and terrace beside the kitchen are simply breathtaking. All the bedrooms are large and roomy but the master bedroom where we stayed with windows all around and a wraparound terrace was amazing. Waking up to the views towards the beach and sea over the tropical greenery will stay with you long after you have finished your holiday. We also loved the immediate area where we would walk around the lush tropical grounds where we saw some lovely natural wildlife including sloths, exotic birds like the toucans, macaws and even hummingbirds, and there were plenty of white faced monkeys everywhere. There is even a private open gym and yoga studio surrounded by the local jungle like vegetation with views towards the beach and just two minutes walk through the gardens. Good for the soul. We loved the 10 minute walk through the trees and vegetation to the perfect private beach although you can take the courtesy minibus which runs at your convenience. The icing on the cake are the beautiful sunsets from the beach only beaten by the even better views of the sunset from the comfort of the villa with a glass of chilled white or a gin and tonic in hand. Also the staff kept the villa spotless and were friendly and helpful at all times. A truly fabulous time at a stunning villa and I would thoroughly recommend Casa las Nubes to anyone looking for a carefree week in paradise.

We stayed in room 8 which is a bungalow with AC. Lovely room. Outdoor cooking area worked well. Pool wax really warm and relaxing. Saw howler monkeys, agoutis, blue morphia on premises. Staff seemed helpful. Beach accessible via walking trail. Lovely and close but my dad (80) couldn’t have made it. For an easy to reach beach we drove to punta uva but for most people this would be great.

For us the perfect accommodation when visiting Puerto Veijo!! It’s right next to the beautiful beach, very good restaurants, a small supermarket with fresh bread and cake, the jaguar center and chocoArt (chocolate farm where you learn to make chocolate), as well as a super nice second hand shop and other boutiques. The beach here is way nicer than right in the village itself, so are the beach bars and the restaurants! You can get bikes and discover easily the village and other beaches. The accommodation is well decorated, very clean, good beds (!) and very cozy. The pool is big and clean for a nice swim until late in the night. We loved our stay!

Contact with Silvia and Edita was spotless as was the room. Particularly appreciated the assistance in organizing local outings and absolute transparency when we feared to have lost a couple of personal items which had in fact slid by the fridge. Well done to everyone

We went with our 4 year old kid We have booked for 4 nights but they had to repair the water (drilling loudly) for many days so we left and they reinburse us for the 3 other nights. The bunglalow was clean and nice. The 2nd room on the back of the bungalow was really humid and did not smell good. They put a humidifier but it was not solving the issue… The main bed was not confortable. Was rounded and made noise when you move. For the price I think it is a good place.

We came there and we were welcomed by a little lovely cat called “sunshine”. Our house had a beautiful view to the jungle and the amazing pool. When you wake up you hear the howl monkeys, birds and when you go outside sunshine is waiting for you, or a funny aguti is walking next to you ;). We hired some bikes and went to the beach. The house was clean and everything was amazing. Thank you very much Sylvia it was lovely to be there!
