What a wonderful experience ! We were a group of 22 who were fortunate enough to stay at Relais Della Rovere. Our rooms were fantastic and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable. The breakfasts were outstanding and we had dinner out in the courtyard a few times too, just amazing ! There is a great pool - which we enjoyed every afternoon after returning from our day out sightseeing. The town of Colle Val D'Elsa is within walking distance and accross the road are 2 other restaurants. I can highly recommend Relais Della Rovere.

This place used to be the private residence of cardinal Della Rovere who ended up becoming pope Julius II. How’s that for a watercooler conversation after your holiday?! It’s truly amazing to stay at a place which breathes so much history. Traces of its 900 year heritage are to be seen literally everywhere in heraldry, architecture, furniture, masonry etc. The rooms are agriturismo style but equipped with luxurious marble bathrooms. It says ‘has airconditioning’ but this is central for the whole building and you can’t adjust so that’s a bummer. The place has a great patio style garden, and grand corridors/stairways. Luca (the bartender) serves amazing cocktails which are not only delicious but also pieces of art. In addition he comes up with personalized cocktail suggestions based on previous orders. Aga (waitress) is super friendly and makes restaurant guests feel right at home. Food is flawless and offers good value for money (you can enjoy diner with desert with 4 for ~€100).

Excellent stay at this property. Rooms and facilities were outstanding, staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast included was fantastic.
Location in town is not the best but quite close to the historic centre. Would happily stay here again.

What a beautiful site hidden in green in Val d’Elsa. We booked this accommodation as my son and I planned a cooking class of Jul’s Kitchen which is nearby during autumn break. What a great hotel; probably it helped a lot that the sun shined bright too but everything is well kept and peaceful here. Personnel is kind and helpful and this is Italian hospitality at its best. Lunch at the small restaurant at the pool or great dinner in the evening at Il Cardinale, all indicates the marvelous Italian cuisine . Don’t know why this hotel doesn’t have a 5* ranking to be honest, they deserve it!

This is truly one of the nicest hotel stays I have ever experienced. It is such an elegant resort, spotlessly clean and well-maintained. Our room was in a little "dovecot" type building and was huge with a separate sitting room/dressing room area and ultra-modern and spacious bathroom. The one thing that set this resort apart from me was the peace and quiet, you literally don't hear a sound apart from an odd car passing but that's it. No loud music, no one shouting or messing at the pool, it was all just very civilized but in a casual way. The staff were really lovely, particularly Luca at the bar area who made the most fabulous Limoncello cocktails for me pre-dinner each evening. Another massive plus for the resort was its proximity to the small town of Colle di Val d'Elsa, when I was researching where to stay in Tuscany I noticed that most of the very nice resorts were outside of towns, this was literally a 5 minute walk or 1-2 minutes by car. The town itself was typically charming with a lovely piazza/square which had some restaurants and bars, a supermarket and a chemist as well as some other small shops. All in all, it was such a memorable and pleasant stay for us, we will definitely return :)

Arriving through a housing estate was not the expected romantic experience. The photos suggest the hotel is in the rolling Tuscan countryside. This is far from the truth. The local town does not add to the experience but there are some nice restaurants a little further. Mosquitoes limit pool time to 15 mins. The breakfast arrives late which delayed our early starts. The building itself is lovely and the room was light and spacious and the AC much appreciated.

We stayed eight nights with another couple. Great experience! The boutique hotel is located in a former Cardinal’s villa. Beautifully maintained and still keeping its historical feel. Wonderful included breakfast. Very attentive staff. Also centrally located in Tuscany for day trips to surrounding hilltop towns like Sienna.

The staff of the restaurant was very friendly, but the rest of the staff didn‘t really mind the guests( they didn‘t even greet). We travel with dog and although they write „dogs allowed“, they don‘t seem to like people with dogs very much. The room we received was a superior as they told us, but was much smaller than the others and reminded of a jail cell. They don’t show fotos of this room, so better ask before booking! Also the bathroom wasn‘t cleaned well in the morning. The pool was not clean either. The whole experience was very disappointing and not at all „italian-like“. For a 4star Hotel we expect much more of a service. They serve instant coffee at the breakfast. It was so bad, that we left a day earlier. As we deposed our complaint they refunded us at least the costs for the dog.
