Sonesta Select Columbia

I had a very nice staycation during my home renovations. The hotel is close to restaurants and shopping centers. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

The rating between a 3/5 and 4/5 was hard but ultimately because of the $5 parking fee and the crazy expensive breakfast, it brought this hotel rating down to a 3/5. The staff were incredibly nice, and they make this hotel. It was snowing this morning and they offered to give me a broom. Also, the lady at the food station was VERY personable. She deserves a raise. This hotel itself is situated in a nice, quiet area. The floors were very hallow so you hear when people are waking in the hallway. If they remove the parking fee and consider a different route for breakfast I would consider staying here again, however would rather pay the extra cost to stay at the Hampton inn until that is reassessed.

Staff was friendly. Room was clean and hotel was quiet. Hotel in a area with a lot of stores,restaurants and businesses....

Room was nice and comfy but the bathroom was really small. There is a $5 charge per day for parking unless you are a member of the hotel chain. My biggest complaint and biggest rip off was the $9 upcharge for breakfast. Dont waste your money!!!! They do serve sanwiches but you get a choice of coffee or juice plus you get 1 prepackaged pastry and 1 choice of prepackages cereal or fruit!! Thats all. ..

Convenient location. Quiet, even when hotel was full. Friendly, helpful staff. Ample, well lit parking. Comfortable beds. Consistently given 3 sets of towels for 4 people. Multiple electrical outlets non-functional in room. Breakfast add-on was total ripoff. Overall, I'd stay there again for sure, just not adding on that breakfast option.

It was out of the way but so close to food, shops and groceries!! The hotel was very clean and my room was perfect!! I’ll definitely stay here again!!!

Really, this property charges $5 a day for parking? its not in a congested location where space is a premium. Columbia's lake front hotels with a parking garage & don't charge and I would understand if they did. At 8am, I went to the Complimentary Breakfast. It was CLOSED. There was no signage or even a notice under my room door to provide me any advance notice. I had to walk over and ask the receptionist. She said it was closed due to unforseen circumstances. Understandable,.... things happen. But she did not convey what. I asked about a voucher or other customer options provided by the hotel and her un-charming manner was "There is only coffee, nothing else I can do or offer". I asked about having a yogart and banana that was on the other side of the breakfast/bar counter. Has she walked from the reception desk to the other side of the lobby to get these items for me , I thought this make-up for this inconvience, but instead she said, " do you want to charge these to your room". Really???? You can't give me a banana and yogart...wow!! So I handed her my room cards to check-out and left. Anyone can ask me, going forward, that my third time staying at a Sonesta will be my last. Heck, Hampton Inn would never not make an effort to make some amends to a situation for a customer. I did not like her mannerism and I don't think my request was unrealistic. On the good side: Room, hallway, gym and pool are all clean and comfortable. Check-in was very good

Checkin was horrific and so loud. There was a game on a Saturday night and you couldn’t here yourself think, long lines, and I’m not sure when there had to be an incidentals hold on a room that was PREPAID but who knows. Paying for parking and then the keys didn’t work for the door was too much. The bed and room was comfortable although my family’s stay was less than 12 hours.

They charge nightly for parking now (this never used to be the case). Understandable in a dense area with limited spaces, but this is out in the suburbs with plenty of open space.
