Dreadful experience. The hosts make you jump through hoops in order to be able to stay there. They don't respond to forms, emails, calls and two numbers had to be tried to get a text response. Having already requested to leave a small bag at the time of booking, I was told there was no way this would be possible, and only a very small window was available for check-out. Despite having booked just a couple of days earlier, was told no refund unless someone else booked the room. Which wasn't advertised. Cockwombles. Customer service simply doesn't exist here, avoid if you want a stress-free experience!

Expecting a cosy room in the historic Compiègne, we were more than deceived and disappointed. We were blocked in traffic coming from Paris and arrived 45 minutes ‘late’. We had alerted the property of our tardiness, and they said it was fine. As we arrived late, we phoned to announce our arrival. We assumed all was fine, so we dropped our bags and left for dinner … As we did not return from dinner and back to the property until quite late, is was a nuisance to see that we did not have an internet connection. There was nothing we could do as it was late. We had to wait until morning to speak with the property manager. The following morning when we inquired about breakfast the property manager informed us that we had not reserved the day before, so we were out of luck. They did not even recommend a nearby café for where we could find breakfast. Instead, they rudely told us not to harass them with questions, as everything is written on their website. When I informed them that the internet was not working, they told me to read the code written in the bedroom. Note: The internet had to be rebooted as it truly was not working. When we had spoken to the property manager at check-in, they did not inform us that we needed to reserve breakfast for the following morning, the day-before. This reservation-mandatory was not written in English in the room. Nor were we able to see this notice on the property’s website as the internet connection did not work. So, the missed breakfast and the lack of internet gave us a bad taste about the property, but the rudeness of the property manager was the icing on the cake. Oh, and then, there was a cherry on top of the icing. The toilet did not work. The water pressure was so bad that if you tried to flush the toilet it overflowed in the bathroom. NOT good, especially when they only gave us two towels for the entire weekend. I forgot to mention that their website advertised our room as having a fireplace. Well, having a fireplace is a lovely idea for a chilly February evening. However, the fireplace was only decorative. So then WHY write about déco and charge for a ‘Superior’ room when the experience was far from what it was marketed. Picky detail — The sheets were not ironed either, so we were not even sure if they were clean. Stay away from this property.
