Room was falling to bits. Pictures on website must have been taken years ago. Shower handle held together with duct tape, shelf missing in bathroom and handbasin broken. Shower curtain filthy and bath seals mouldy. Coffee machine had no pods as they said they ran out, tv not working properly, room was dirty. Breakfast poor, only alternative to cooked breakfast was cornflakes. Cooked breakfast was greasy and dining room filthy. Outside lights not turned on resulting in trip hazard with large planters blocking doorway. Tripped hurting shin and nobody around to offer assistance at 10pm. Nobody around on checkout to fill out an accident book. If I could give no stars I would as this hotel is dated, poorly maintained and needs a full makeover. Staff when available where not very happy. Wouldn't recommend to others as there are far better places to stay in Grassington.

We were nicely welcomed when we arrived on a Friday evening but there’s not much else positive to say really, other than the guy serving breakfast was nice as well. The bar shuts early, 21:30 on Friday and 22:00 on Saturday and as there’s nowhere else nearby you’re a bit stuffed if you’re not an early bird. Room (Skirfire) had mould on exterior window and in bathroom, the tiny window overlooked flat roof with a very loud extractor fan which made sleeping in impossible as it started to hum when breakfast service started. Breakfast only from 08:00 to 09:30 so no option to eat early and get out. Also pretty limited choice and average quality. Oddly my bed had a mat on it which appeared to be a wee mat to protect the mattress from nighttime accidents. That’s really not an issue for me and made me wonder if the sheets actually hadn’t been changed since the previous guests. Nobody around to raise issues with at end of stay as check out was via a key drop box.

Stopped for a couple of drinks. Good drinks range. Very friendly barman. Lovely welcoming atmosphere. Fantastic views over the fields. Toilets were spacious and clean. Drinks well priced. Pinot Grigio was delicious. Would definitely recommend

After a long day travelling, followed by work, was looking forward to some food and a good pint, of which I had neither. Checked in at 8:07pm, the welcome was unfriendly at best. Asked if I could order food, bluntly told kitchen closed at 8...... nearest alternative open place to eat was 12 miles away according to Google maps, so settled for a sandwich and crisps from nearby garage. Returned to room, met by door wedged open by over turned stool?? Duvet very lumpy and too small for bed, and damp smell throughout. Most annoying thing was restaurant serving time posted in room says food served until 8:30pm, so kitchen should have been open.....

Location was beautiful and quiet. Warm welcome and looked after by Jay & Susie. Meals were wholesome and delicious - recommend the Sunday Roast. Previous reviews were mixed, yes it is a bit tired and shower didn't work properly but things are trying to be redressed. Room was clean and good value for money - breakfast maybe more cereals/fruit or yoghurt however full cooked breakfast.

Overall I had a good time staying here. The surrounding countryside was lovely to look at and our room was ideal for a relaxing weekend away. The service really made our night though thanks to Jay who was attentive throughout and really made us feel at home. Thanks again and hopefully we’ll be staying again sometime soon.

My friend and I stayed one night in Nidderdale, in a twin bedded room. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, especially the gentleman who served us at Breakfast. The location and views are really good and there is adequate parking. However, we had a broken window pane in our room with a fist sized hole, that we reported on arrival. The bed my friend slept in had old stains on the divan base bottom sheet and both mattresses were lumpy, with mine sinking in the middle. In the bathroom we had a cracked sink that had been repaired but you could still see the crack. The shower attachment to the wall was coming away and the tap in the sink was loose. The bathroom itself smelt of urine but did look clean, other than for some mould at the bottom of the shower cubicle. All the furniture was stained but functional. Breakfast itself was very basic indeed with a kettle to boil for tea etc. The window ledge behind the breakfast area was dirty and unkept. This pub used to be such a beautiful place, it is really sad to see basic hygenie and upkeep amiss, as the staff who work there deserve it. I dont like giving negative reviews but I feel from a Health and Safety perspective it is important it is mentioned. We would not stay again.

We stayed here for 2 nights 1st & 2nd May 2025. On arrival Suzanne was quite pleasant gave us our key and directed us to the room also informed us of the code for the front door. Initially the room looked nice it was the Silverdale Room. However my wife did mention the fact of the lighting over the bathroom mirror was really dull it seemed much brighter over the loo, also the shelf was missing over the sink. We are both in our late 60s and when having a shower it was hard enough getting in the bath which had mould around the sealant let alone turning the knob for the shower.( It looked nice but not very practical). Bed seemed comfortable, but cobwebs every where around bed and wardrobe. There was a glass water bottle by the coffee machine but it was empty. Tv was a nightmare to get channels on.The hairdryer was in the drawer but could only use it without a mirror! We put the sign on the door for no cleaning but no bag was left for top up toilet rolls etc. We were room only but there was no mention of being able to book breakfast or where you are supposed to go for it. We only heard from Suzanne telling someone in the bar! The meals we had in the restaurant were very good but there was just no atmosphere in the room, very echoing! The bar closed at 9pm on Thurs night and 10pm on Fri night. This night was really busy due to the hotel being full. Although Suzanne was pleasant to start with and she seemed to be doing everything on her own we did not feel welcome anymore . We were basically told we can finish our drinks in our room, as she was mopping floors and wanting us out of the bar! She needs to ask her boss for help! The location had lovely views. I would rate it as a 2 * and will not book this hotel again!

We stayed one night whilst doing the Dales Way. We had a warm welcome from a very friendly helpful member of staff. However the whole place is in need of refurbishment we had a large room but in need of redecoration. The evening meal was basic pub food with a limited choice. I had scampi which was ok my wife had the vegetarian tart again ok. Again breakfast was ok we had to make our own tea but teapots were available. The owners need to spend some money and do a full refurb. The very nice lady who booked us in also took our evening meal order and our breakfast order she works hard and is very good.
