Corto del Mar Hotel

We were a bit dubious upon arrival as the hotel is located down a dark unmarked laneway but were then pleasantly surprised by the welcoming ambience of the entrance which encompasses reception, the restaurant and outlook onto the large pool. Our room on the top floor was large with a balcony both front and back and overlooked the residential squalor below and harbour. It seems every family has a rooster and they crow mostly 24 hours per day. Stray dogs are everywhere and they bark throughout the night (this would be common regardless of where you stay in Coron Town). Fortunately the buzzing of our ceiling fan helped to soften some of the noise. I loved the bathroom with its large shower (but often tripped on the stepdown in/out of the bathroom (this needs to be highlighted with a red or fluoro safety *****). The room's aircon worked great. Breakfast offered a number of choices but we both became ill after one morning. We can't pinpoint what it would have been but days later we're still suffering. The pool is fabulous but the old timber lounges need urgent replacement. They are unsightly, uncomfortable, heavy to move, padding is filthy and they can't be adjusted. The grass and garden could also do with attention. Overall, a lovely place to stay and staff were friendly and helpful. If the pool area had been more comfortable I would have rated 5/5.

This place is awesome. Great location. Right in the middle of Coron Town, in walking distance of shops, restaurants and tours. I didn't see any other accommodation at this standard near the town center, so it really stands out. In terms of the hotel itself, the architecture is really cool. Feels like you are staying in a Mexican drug lords mansion. The lagoon style swimming pool is also beautiful and a great place to hang. The highlight for me along with the location. Staff are great. Very friendly and helpful. Rooms are both spacious and clean. Restaurant food and breakfast were solid but not amazing. You could book tours through the hotel. Didn't do any myself but the prices and itineraries looked pretty standard. I personally went to the dock and organised directly with the boatmen. This enabled me to get a more tailored itinerary for a cheaper price. Understand this would be out of the comfort zone of some in which case, the hotel tours are a good option. I did get private transfers to and from the airport with the hotel. These were on time and fairly priced in a nice, air-conditioned van. In terms of opportunities, it would be great if the hotel invested in some new sunbeds. The furniture by the pool is pretty old. Useable but feels close to falling apart and looks poor, particularly next to such an amazing pool. Overall, I had an amazing stay and would thoroughly recommend the Corto Del Mar to anyone coming to Coron. Thanks, and see you next time.

This is an elegant, up-market option near the centre and port of Coron. The common areas of the hotel are attractive and the bedrooms are large and immaculate. The in-house restaurant offers an excellent cooked breakfast and good evening meals. Do not hesitate to stay here if you don't mind spending around Euro 100 a night.

We had 3 nights at the Corto del Mar situated in the heart of the main town and only a few minutes from the ferry and 30 mins to the airport. As many have already reported there are benefits of being the best hotel in town next to the locals, the shops and the restaurants but this is offset by the disadvantages of being the best hotel in town, next the locals, the shops and the restaurants. The rooms are decent and large, the food was ok and most of the staff seemed keen to help. There is a fabulous pool but the furniture and grounds need work and why don’t the bar staff be a bit more active in selling their product ? The hotel has a relationship with a couple of local boats that operate the day trips, ours was a disaster but hopefully they have improved by the time you arrive. Or pick one of the 100 others on offer outside the hotel and at a lower price. Enjoy……

This is my second stay at this hotel and both times the experience exceeded expectations. The staff is amazing; friendly, helpful, and professional. The building is charming and the rooms are comfortable with all amenities. The hotel is conveniently located in Coron with easy access to all areas. I would definitely recommend to anyone staying in Coron.

We had 2 nights here - the hotel reception and restaurant is beautiful, lots of wooden structures and furniture and a lovely big pool. Staff - as everywhere in the Philippines - are so lovely. Our room was huge and comfortable. For breakfast there is a buffet as well as freshly cooked eggs/omelettes/pancakes made in front of you, which we thought was great. Very easy to walk to restaurants and bars locally - we would recommend Rapsa Nui food park, great street food and live music. The hotel does overlook the local neighbourhood- which is a great way to get involved, meet the lovely local people and buy some things from them to help the people and animals. Hopefully more people will visit and support, rather than complain.

A very nice hacienda style Hotel. Very clean and spacious room. The pool is very nice too. The breakfast buffet that was included was very satisfying. There location is ideal because its walking distance to nicer restaurants in town. With the location its sorrounded by locals. The only negative was the internet. It only works at the lobby. The staff were very helpful. They will cater to all your needs if they can. Highly recommended.

Had a great stay here last week. The staff are exceptionally nice, willing to help with any needs, but also let you go about your day with no bother. A lot of hotels try up sell or constantly ask if you need anything poolside.. Great breakfast and the cocktails by the pool are amazing. Only down side is that the pool could have used a leaf clean, but it was nice and quiet/ perfect temperature during the day. If you don't like kids running around the pool screaming and splashing, this is the place for you. I wouldn't recommend the seaview room if you are looking for great sea views, but the room/ bathroom were very clean, roomy, and the beds very comfortable! I would stay here again!

The hotel is really underrated! It was our favorite hotel of our trip in the Philippines. The hotel is very pretty! It is clean and has very very helpful and friendly staff. The food from their own hotelrestaurant was really good and not that expensive. The cocktails are very good as well. All in all a really good stay!! They can help you with several tours, scooter rental etc.
