Calcot Hotel & Spa

We came as a group of friends for birthday celebration afternoon tea so I cannot comment on value for money or booking process. However, I was very impressed with the gluten free afternoon tea. Sandwich bread was moist and tasty..in fact I did a double visual check on 'ordinary version' as mine looked too good to be true! Scones good texture, and 1 in 'doggy bag' for today. But I was most impressed with the cakes. I am not really a cake person unless i make my own as most are far too sweet. Reading coeliac social media I am not alone in finding most shop bought cakes just load with sugar to disguise lack of taste and texture. So my first bite of gf brownie (thinking...okay, another brownie) was followed by total amazement that it appeared to be sugar free as well as gluten free. Wow..I could taste chocolate and nuts! Similarly coffee cake: tasted of coffee not sugar. For me this was wonderful. It might just be that others will complain that the texture was not to their liking as lack of sugar tends to cause a dryer, less spongy cake. But for those of us coeliacs who have long since stopped trying to find exact replacement of standard bread and cakes, and instead celebrate the differences, this is a breath of fresh air!

This my go to spa and overnight stay treat. We have been here quite a few times as it's a gorgeous hotel and spa with staff who are both welcoming and a credit to the hotel. We went here for my birthday and this time decided to have a spa day, afternoon tea & dinner with an overnight stay. The outside hot tub is lovely with a roaring fire nearby. The spa is great with superb treatments. The new gym is outstanding - one of the best hotel gyms I have been in. Our room was well appointed with lovely amenities & toiletries. The bed was comfy with soft squidgy pillows. Every meal we had was top quality with great service. There aren't too many hotels I would happily visit again and again but this is one of them!

Lunch in The Hive. The menu is near perfect for my taste. Seafood board, truffle Croque monsieur were very good! Tea / coffee not so good and over priced! Service was prompt and efficient. Well located off A46 north of Bath / south of Stroud. Well worth a visit!

Beautiful pure luxury and relaxation. Treatments were amazing the setting was Beautiful and the food was great. Even the sun came out so we were sunbathing in September. Loved the outdoor hot tub and the open fire was a very nice touch. Will be back.

My husband and I visited Calcot for a weekend with our three young children and puppy. I arrived first with children and dog, and was pretty stressed (a drive from London with yelling kids will do that…!) plus I had booked a spa treatment, so needed to get children into the Playbarn as soon as possible. Katie on the front reception was a total angel - taking the dog for a walk, sorting out my bags in the car and letting me take the children to the Playbarn and get to my treatment on time. Absolutely fantastic service and so appreciated. Also huge thanks to Luke, who was a brilliant and great fun waiter. All the staff are a total credit to the hotel, and having stayed in many more expensive places where that’s not the case, I really appreciate this. The room we were in (Westonbirt) was perfect - the three beds were made up beautifully for the children and they really loved their names on the door and the chocolate lollies to make hot chocolate after dinner. The Playbarn was fantastic - lovely staff and the children couldn’t wait to go back there and cried when we had to leave. It’s an expensive stay but honestly I think worth it for families; there aren’t many luxury hotels done as well as this.

Went here for lunch which was totally delicious with excellent service. Would highly recommend eating here and I,m sure staying would be fabulous. One of the staff actually helped me woth a flat tyre after getting a pump from his own car so I could get home. Highly rate this place
