Positives are a great location, quiet room at back, comfortable beds and quality linen. Unfortunately, I have to be honest - the hotel is very tired. Dark furniture that is often chipped, stained Lino, seats that need replacing or reupholstering, rusting glass holders, shower curtain not screen, poor maintenance eg tiling that has not been siliconed and painting that goes over lines etc. Staff also need training eg there was the usual hot breakfast menu but my partner just wanted a bacon sandwich - the waitress said it could not be done My husband just asked for bacon and bread, she said we could only have toast, we asked for untoasted bread but we could not have…. the tomato sauce was the cheapest and runniest. We have stayed in some lovely hotels in Ireland but this was a disappointment.

It felt like home from home a very well coming family run hotel. We enjoyed a top class dinner of black sole and monkfish. The staff couldn't do enough for us at breakfast. The bed was very cosy and the room temperature was perfect which is hard to get right.

Perfect hotel for short holiday. Lovely and considerate staff with a good sense of humour, no shortage of bars and restaurants in Clifden to keep one amused in the evenings and stunning scenery in all of the Connemara. Our days were spent sightseeing the rugged coast line and admiring the beautiful lakes, even finding some super beaches on the way to Roundstone.

Foyles is right in the middle of Clifden and my Husband and l had a very nice stay there. The staff are all very helpful and the Manager in the restaurant is a diamond. I think he was the Manager. A tall lrish Man with a lovely personality. The food is excellent and the helpings enormous. Loads of vegetables. We had a lovely room and a very comfortable bed. One little thing l would think about is that the bedroom could do with more comfortable chairs. If one wants to relax the chairs are not comfortable. Breakfast could not be faulted and the service was top drawer. We didn’t have to ask for anything. Lots of choice and we were served with the utmost efficiency. We have stayed at many many hotels and l would say that the service at breakfast here was the best we have had. The lady on reception was very polite and nice. We will return but hope the chairs in the bedroom are more comfortable!! Overall experience was very good. Thankyou.

A wonderful family well ran hotel. Greeted with warm hospitality on Friday the 18th of April 2025. Offer of assistance with luggage to the rooms and a good briefing on whats where and when. A beautiful woody and warm ambiance. An open fire surrounded by plenty of comfortable couches. A Standard room, loads of space and clean with all of the relevant necessities. Friendliness of the Mgt and staff was superb and nothing was a problem. The Dining room was the jewel in the Crown where quality food with care and attention was second to none. The service crew on the floor were fantastic, they all knew their roles and responsibilities. The coffee was superb, not to mention the cooked breakfast to order but also the centre table of fruit, Juices, dried fruits serials etc... pure magic Yes the rooms could do with some uplifting but would we go back?.... yes in a heart beat. It was a fab chill out hotel and a fab experience.... Brendan & Joan thank you.

Lovely period hotel and evening meal we got was very good. Great staff and lovely relaxing time. Hope to repeat again. Minor issues like undercooked hash browns with the breakfast couldn't take away from the experience. Also have to add their bar is cool with very lively music on both Friday and Saturday nights.
