Hotel Valle Andino

The staff members are friendly when you see them, but two problems I encountered: the intro page of the hotel says it has a 24-hour front desk but it doesn’t! One night I finished drinking with friends and returned to the hotel at 12:25, the main door was locked, I called and knocked for 15 mins and no one replied - worse still I have a 4:30am pick up for Machu Piccu tour the following morning and I couldn’t change my clothes, charge my phone or bring anything with me because they just wouldn’t open the door! I couldn’t book another hotel either because any booking of the day only allows check in at 11am. I ended up sleeping in the sofa of a nearby hotel Prisma Hotel who was fully booked but kindly let me stay a night at their lobby. Another thing was - the hotel room lock was shady and it became unlocked automatically sometimes. It’s not somewhere you feel you can trust.

Room was very clean and comfortable. The employees were lovely and extremely helpful. To access the room we had to climb up fire escape type steps (the staff kindly helped us with our bags). The only major issue was the shower. When we went to shower, the handles shocked us. We tried to use a towel to turn the water on and off and the shocks went through the towel. The breakfast was very good … eggs!

Clean and located in walking distance to many things. Continental breakfast was good. They cooked our eggs to order. It was cold in the mornings as it is winter there(July), but the days warmed up nicely. I started with pants and changed to shorts in the late morning.

A terrifying stay — solo girl travelers, stay away This hostel is run by two brothers. I stayed for four nights. On the fourth night, after returning from Rainbow Mountain, I found my door ajar. Clearly, someone had entered. I never expected anyone to enter without my knowledge, especially when my personal items were exposed. I was shocked and disturbed. That night, I confronted the younger brother, Alexander. Though we'd spoken in English before, he suddenly pretended not to understand and used Google Translate, clearly stalling. He finally admitted entering to “change the Wi-Fi password,” saying he did so in all rooms, and just forgot to lock mine. “At least nothing was stolen,” he said. But the Wi-Fi password hadn’t changed. My room had no router, just a TV. Someone had plugged in the TV and moved the remote I’d never picked up. I later proved he lied by logging in on a new device with the old password. They told me through ********** the password was only changed two days after I checked out. I felt deeply violated. Solo women, beware — they may enter your room without consent.

The staff was great, went out of their way to help in anyway needed. As for the hotel itself I can not recommend, the walls are like paper, you can literally hear the person across the hall use the bathroom. The rooms are tiny and cramped, the bathroom shower was like standing in a coffin. If your room faces the common area lounge don’t expect to get any sleep it is loud and echos throughout the building. And forget about jumping into the shower and going it takes about 15 minutes to get hot water. And if you need a late checkout make sure sure to pay in advance, we had arranged for a late checkout with the management which said no problem and on the last day they told us too bad we can’t do it even though there were empty rooms. Spend more and stay somewhere else.

Quite nice for the rates we paid. The staff was friendly and helpful, it was a little noisy sometimes.
