Grand Hyatt Dalian

You should definitely avoid this hotel during peak season. Aside from the sea view, everything else is awful. First and foremost, the service attitude is incredibly poor. It's clear the staff are overwhelmed because the hotel is fully booked, but that's no excuse for such a drop in service quality. My experience was bad from the moment I checked in at the front desk. I couldn't get into my room until 4 PM, and not once did anyone contact me to say my room was ready. I had to keep going back to the front desk to ask (and even had to queue again each time!). When I asked why my room wasn't ready, one front desk staff member said the drawer was broken, while another said it was an air conditioning issue. They couldn't even get their excuses straight, which was laughable. When I pressed further, a male employee arrogantly replied that the AC was fixed. So why wasn't I informed earlier? Did I have to ask myself to be told? Throughout the whole process, there wasn't a single apology. I've never had such a terrible check-in experience. If I hadn't already waited so long, I honestly would have caused a scene. Secondly, the room was old and run-down. The air conditioning had a noticeable smell and stains, and the bathroom had a strange odor after showering. The bedding was uncomfortable; the pillows were too flat and soft, offering no support. Breakfast was very mediocre, with limited variety, and the made-to-order dishes tasted very bland. In summary, this is the worst-service hotel I've stayed in within the same price range in China. I'll definitely visit Dalian again, but I will never return to this hotel.

The service truly exceeded my expectations. A day before arrival, a butler proactively reached out to ask about my room preferences, and even though I arrived early, they immediately had a room ready for me. The room itself was fantastic, with unbeatable sea views and a perfect spot to watch the light show. It really put a perfect end to my somewhat rushed trip to Dalian. The nearby Xinghai Fishing Port had delicious food, but unfortunately, it was too hot during the day and packed with people at night. So, I woke up at 5 AM and took a stroll on the beach, getting a little taste of the city's scenery. Oh, and the swimming pool was great – not crowded at all, very clean, and there was a really comfortable hot tub to relax in and melt away the fatigue.

Our sea-view room offered a clear view of the evening musical fountain and light show without having to go downstairs and jostle with the crowds. The bedding was clean and comfortable, and we even received complimentary welcome fruit upon arrival. The butler contacted us in advance to arrange everything, and the service was exceptionally attentive! Plus, popular restaurants like Xiding and Will Will are conveniently located downstairs, making it perfect for a vacation. Next time we visit Dalian, we'll definitely choose the Grand Hyatt again!

First off, the location is incredibly convenient. Right outside the door are Xinghai Square and the beach, and there are many great restaurants nearby: Xiding, Wei'erwei'er, Haiwei Dangjia, and Sakuragi Chizuru (not recommended)... From the moment we arrived at the hotel entrance, every staff member was very welcoming. The duty manager, a man with glasses who checked me in, was exceptionally patient. The absolute best part, though, was the unbeatable view from the room. Sipping coffee and watching people and seagulls in the square from my room was incredibly therapeutic!!! The pool wasn't crowded and was very clean; my child loved it!! The carpet and headboard in the room were a bit of a downside – they were a bit old-fashioned. However, the other facilities were excellent, and there was no strange odor in the room. The mattress was comfortable, and the room was quiet... We didn't book breakfast, but ordering takeout was super easy. I highly recommend the pork buns from Xipu and the specialty latte from Wuyoo – I ordered them two days in a row! The Laowei Menzi was also good... If you're traveling with kids and not looking for a super intense 'special forces' kind of trip, I highly recommend this place. It really gives you that vacation vibe!

I stayed one night at the Grand Hyatt Dalian and had a great overall experience. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Xinghai. The hotel's location is superb, right next to Xinghai Square, allowing direct access to the seaside for a stroll – perfect for sightseeing. The room had excellent natural light, and the panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows offered an expansive view, directly overlooking the Xinghaiwan Cross-sea Bridge, which was stunning at night. The room was meticulously cleaned, with a dry/wet separated bathroom. The bedding was soft and comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep. Amenities like toiletries and a hairdryer were well-stocked, meeting all daily needs. The staff were polite and friendly, and the front desk processed check-in efficiently without any delays. The hotel facilities are comprehensive, with a free-to-use heated swimming pool and a sea-view gym, ideal for relaxation during leisure time.

We stayed here with our parents and children. The sea view is unbeatable, and the location is very convenient for getting around, though it can get a bit congested in the evenings. The hotel facilities are generally decent, and the service is attentive and responsive. The breakfast was quite mediocre with limited options; we ate there for several days, and the selection remained the same each day.

I visited Dalian with my child and stayed at three hotels over four days. This one was by far the most disappointing. First, the location is indeed excellent. If you like the Xinghai Square area, this is a great place to stay. However, during peak season, try to avoid taking taxis at night as traffic gets really congested. That said, it's lovely to stroll around from early evening onwards. Further in, there are many stalls and even a beer festival. You can also wander around the vicinity, ride bumper cars, or take a ride on the illuminated boats. When you're tired, it’s convenient to walk just a short distance back to the hotel to rest. Secondly, for dining, there's a KFC and Starbucks nearby, as well as a popular internet-famous Xiding Dumpling restaurant (when I passed by around 3 pm, there was already a long queue; during meal times, scalpers were selling queue numbers). If you walk a bit further, there are also hotpot, Western restaurants, and home-style cooking options – plenty to choose from. The hotel's 46th-floor restaurant was genuinely good. Personally, I don't think ordering roast duck is necessary; the other dishes are also delicious. The stir-fried okra with foie gras was absolutely stunning. I don't know the name of the male manager who took our order, but he had a great attitude. He offered suggestions when we were ordering and checked on our experience after the meal. A small suggestion for the restaurant's ambiance and service: perhaps play some light background music. The whole dining experience felt a bit dry. We happened to catch the bridge light show, but there was no music, making the visual experience not as good as what we saw outdoors the day before. Also, for such a high-end restaurant, wouldn't offering a complimentary fruit platter after the meal be better? Even two slices of watermelon could enhance customer satisfaction. Another point is the hotel service. I'm giving it two stars because the overall service model aligns with a five-star hotel, but the execution and mindset were disappointing. For nearly twenty years, I've only stayed in five-star hotels or above, and my own living environment is surrounded by several five-star hotels. I frequently visit hotels, whether for coffee, a lobby bar, or the gym. A grand hotel should embody a grand demeanor. During check-in, they emphasized and asked me, "Are you sure it's just you and your child checking in?" I didn't react immediately, but shortly after entering the room, a male staff member knocked on the door, saying he was delivering welcome fruit. After I opened the door, his eyes darted around, scanning the entire room, almost as if he wanted to come in and look around. He asked if he should bring it in for me or if I'd take it. I didn't think much of it at the time, just found him a bit strange. It wasn't until I closed the door that I realized what had happened: they had already prejudged us, assuming we were more than two people and might be trying to sneak others into the hotel. Ha ha. I understand that at your price point and location, such situations might occur, but that's no excuse for judging people based on appearances!

Great location, right next to Xinghai Square and the Xiding restaurant. The room was spotless, and the front desk upgraded us to the 29th floor, offering an unbeatable view. The customer service staff even reached out in advance to ask about our needs and explained the pros and cons of rooms on the east and west sides. For breakfast, we opted for room service, which had a wide variety of both Chinese and Western options. It's a fantastic choice for a family trip!

At 6 AM, the curtains let in a lot of light, making the room very bright. If you like to sleep in, be aware of this. Most of the rooms at Guibin Xuan face west. Rooms with numbers ending in 1-10, where 10 is closer to the sea and 1 is closer to the building. The room in the picture is probably in the middle, so if you're closer to 1, the sea view will be minimal. If you check in on a hot day and the air conditioning doesn't kick in within a few minutes, don't hesitate. It's not because of the west-facing sun; the AC is broken. I recommend not waiting for engineering to check it out; just switch rooms immediately! Don't ask me how I know – they won't even show up for half an hour, and you'll be stuck waiting in a hot room with no AC. The breakfast was exactly the same for two days in a row, with everything in the same place. The limited selection isn't a huge deal because people generally eat the same things in the morning, but the quality was quite mediocre. My child even said the croissants weren't as good as the ones on the airplane. Also, pay attention! If you're sensitive to cold, absolutely do not sit at the tables near the windows. The waiter seated me there, and there was an air vent right above my head. The AC was freezing! Even with a blanket, I was cold. I went upstairs right after eating and immediately got diarrhea. The Chinese restaurant on the 40th floor (or whatever floor it was) requires you to go downstairs to the lobby to switch elevators, which is a bit inconvenient. The dishes were average. The waitress who served our table was very kind. She noticed I wasn't feeling well (because of the draft in the morning, my stomach was upset) and brought me a separate bowl of plain congee. It came late, and I ended up packing it but didn't eat it. Turn left out of the main entrance and walk about 200 meters, and you'll find Xiding. You can get a number there starting at 9:30 AM if you want to eat there. In the same building as Xiding, there's also Will Will. Go down the escalator in the lobby, turn right at the door, and walk about 100 meters, and you'll find a place to rent electric scooters and bicycles. Walk another 200 meters to the left, and you'll reach the place to feed the seagulls. I won't name the front desk manager who initially checked me in, but they kept interrupting me and had a very arrogant attitude. They also didn't reply to WeChat messages, etc. I originally wanted to give a much lower rating for the service, but because of the kind waitress at the Chinese restaurant and the duty manager who handled things later, I didn't send an email to the corporate office. Everything has been resolved, and the hotel doesn't need to contact me anymore.
