Ging Tea House

We stayed at the Ging Tea House last weekend and had wonderful, peaceful, luxurious stay with amazing food! We were picked up right on time by Mr. Ramesh who is fantastic at navigating the narrow, jaw dropping windy road from Bagdora airport to the tea house! It is a 3.5 hour drive and he made suggestions to where we could stop for lunch and tea and stopped at a wonderful cafe half way up. After going through the very noisy, traffic filled roads in Darjeeling, the Tea house was an oasis of peace, calm and beauty. What made is exceptional is the service - all the staff including Prima, Device, Nakesh (sorry for the spelling) and all the others including the Chef are so warm and hospitable. We we treated with tea and snacks as soon as we arrived. Everything was taken care of including all transport to visit the unique Darjeeling toy steam train (don't miss this!) and a wonderful tour and walk to the nearby temple with Nakesh. We were invited to join the ceremony in the temple and have some tea with the people who lived in the village which made is very special. Nakesh gave us lots of information about life on the plantation and we had a great time discussing the issues facing the villagers. The Tea House has several beautifully decorated rooms - we stayed in the Blue Lady suite which was large, with a very comfortable bed (not the norm in most places we have been to!) and lots of pillows with a window seat facing the sunrise in the morning. The bathroom is very large and there is lots of warm water. Be warned - there is no central heating and it gets quite cold in the evenings. The staff started a fire in the dining room so that we were warm while we had dinner. We also had a fire in our room which was roaring in a few hours but also makes the room very smokey as there is no flue...but having an electric blanked turned on when we slipped into bed was pure luxury!! Thank you to all the staff :) My only recommendation is that the staff could relax and be a bit more chill and not worry so much about pleasing the guests - I think most people enjoy the banter with the local staff and would really appreciate hearing their stories of village life - so please feel free to chat with the guests and not just serve them!

Had the greatest time at Ging tea house. Beautiful property with a very welcoming and helpful staff. Hats off to the chef for serving delectable meals of varied cuisines. Loved the peace and quiet and the view from the place. Would definitely visit again :)

Our experience at Ging tea estate was unique. This property was built in 1864- well refurbished and maintained keeping the character! Our experience was made special by the staff- Andrews ( ***ager), Nikesh, Prema , Anju, Rajat ( chef) and other members. Every tea break was with premium first flush from this tea estate ***** with freshly made cookies and cakes! Lunch and dinner were three course meals with so much variety! The tour to tea factory by Nikesh was simply eye opener. We hiked through the estate and Nikesh was our guide to local life in tea estate! We visited the primary school, temples and churches, mingled with local people. On our way back we have been lucky to see Kanchanjanga! We had visited other parts of the region and the experience was really fabulous. This is expensive and I wish, the very people making the experience outstanding, should have right co****sation! We booked ours through Travel Bagicha who attended to minute details of our need!

This property was quiet, clean, and had amazing views. We had a peaceful quality time at the property. The staff was amazing and very helpful. Whenever we will come back to Darjaleen this will be our home.

Absolutely amazing! The views from the property of the surrounding mountains and tea gaedens was breathtaking. The staff was attentive and provided a feeling of being home away from home, but 100x better. Its the staff and the views thats made this a memorable experience. We were served home made meals all day. Additionally, the property provided all the transportation to and from the airport and sight seeing. We definitely want to go back.

Special place - set in amazing and beautiful place. The place is calm and peaceful. The team here are gentle and caring. I am gluten and lactose intolerant- the chef offer such a wide variety of food - brilliant. This should be and every travels buck list.

Our family travelled recently to Ging in August 2023 and were a large group taking up the entire villa. This was our first experience in the hills in the monsoon season which we usually avoid, and for good reason. We saw several landfalls ***** the way that had happened in the previous days and it was an eye-opener as to how difficult life is in the hills. Ging was a extremely welcoming property with their warm team of onsite/offsite staff. Each room has a different character. The food by chef Rajat is always a luxurious 3-4 course affair, yet very homely. Mikesh, Prema and the team are always available to attend to every little need and Andrew, the ***ager has a hawk-eye on the goings-on. We were treated to a lovely musical evening, hiked through the estate, chatted with the locals and were taken to a very educating tour and tea tasting at the Ging tea factory by Mikesh. We played a bit on the billiards table there, read books, had plentiful of the tea although the second flush doesn’t quite measure up to the first. We were literally walking through the clouds and mist and it was quite a relaxing experience to spend time at this very well-maintained property. On the one day we didn’t have rain, we visited Darjiling and the in-house drivers deserve special mention for navigating those difficult landslide-ridden roads. Going back there anytime I need a break !

Wonderful AMBIENCE. Good Hospitality. Tremendous place for good traveller. আমি একাই গিয়েছিলাম , ওম্ শান্তি ! নিরালা নিরিবিলি অবদাত এক পরিবেশ ! আমার মনে হয়েছে ---- পৃথিবীর শ্রেষ্ঠ চা-বাগান গুলির মধ‍্যে এটি জায়গা ক'রে নেবেই !! ধন‍্যবাদ সবাই কে যারা এই Ging tea house এর সঙ্গে জড়িত ; "আবার আসিব ফিরে" !

We had a brief stay but one of the finest we have had going around the world. Fab location amidst the tea gardens and mountains, superbly maintained colonial bunglow and peace-serenity was out of the world. Lastly, the hospitality and service of Andrew and the staff was awesome. One suggestion was about the food..would have loved to have some more non-veg options and especially for children (need non-spicy options). Neverthless, we enjoyed our stay and look forward to come back again in the future. Thank you.
