I write this having just checked out and my only complaint is that we leave too early, wish we had another couple of days here. Theresa and Jan were amazing hosts with two evening meals for our party of 13 that were just lovely. Fresh local produce and an enthusiasm for the region was a joy to behold. The gardens and verandas lead to a relaxed colonial feel and you could while away hours doing nothing . Stop here but better, stay for a while. Thank you for a magical couple of nights.

My wife and I recently stayed over at House Martin in De Rust. The experience was exceptional. The service levels received from the owners exceeded all expectations. The accommodation was clean, well decorated and matched 4-5 star expectations. The gardens are perfectly manicured, meticulously maintained and kept in a pristine condition.

We were warmly welcomed upon arrival and settled into an attractive unit that had everything we needed. I was especially charmed by the garden — it added a tranquil touch to our stay. We enjoyed a pleasant stroll through the nearby suburbs, soaking in the local atmosphere. As the owners departed on a well-earned holiday the following day, breakfast was not available, but their hospitality left a lasting impression.

What a delight it was to stay at this lovely guest lodge. Hosts were very friendly and helpful. Rooms cleaned everyday and very comfortable. Beautiful garden.. Will definitely be back.

What a gem - wonderful hosts and a wonderful property! Rooms are tastefully decorated, the garden an oasis and everything works as intended. The food was great and on time, every time. We'll be back!

I stayed here for a night en route south. De Rust itself is pretty enough but not really as charming as other villages in the area - in my view. But Housemartin certainly has charming and efficient hosts, spacious and practical rooms, wholesome meals, a cosy pool and braai area, lovely gardens ... all of this and more. This may not be luxury or the most imaginative of cuisines, but you will find efficiency, good, solid, unpretentious quality and a no-nonsense approach. At R1 200 per night single DB&B, this was very good value. Recommended!

I had the previledge to stay in Housemartin for 2 nights in February 2025. What a stunning guest house. All in all it has everything you need. The faciltiies is great, secure ample parking, a beautiful communal swimming pool/braai area and very friendly hosts. Next stay in De Rust will certainly be at Housemartin.
