1. At four figures per night, over a thousand yuan a night isn't cheap. But the owner was stingy with bottled water, making you buy your own, haha.
2. The facilities are relatively new; the hairdryer is a Dyson. However, there's no TV, and the room isn't very large, about the size of a typical Ji Hotel room.
3. The complimentary breakfast is very simple. No drinks included; coffee, juice, and milk are extra.
Breakfast consists of: a choice between rice noodles and regular noodles, a fried egg, and a side dish.
4. The view is great, and there are few people, so taking photos isn't crowded.
5. Hiking poles, crampons, and snow gaiters can be borrowed. However, most of the hiking poles are no longer usable.
Finally, a suggestion: Since the price is high-end and the decor and view are nice, hopefully the service will reflect that. Don't be stingy; you won't save much money anyway.

The public area's direct view of the snow-capped mountains is already unparalleled. The rooms are clean and tidy, and the staff's service is incredibly thoughtful. On the first day, because we took the Ice Lake route and arrived quite late, they even messaged and called us, concerned about potential dangers on the night road and asking if we needed help. Every day before we left, they would ask about our route and prepare necessary supplies (e.g., Pocari Sweat/Snickers/nuts for squirrels), as well as medicine, masks, dental floss, and so on. Because we had to leave the village early in the morning, they even helped us with urgent laundry and prepared breakfast. All the amenities are reusable, and the owner must be an experienced outdoor enthusiast, truly practicing environmental protection. This is exactly the kind of place hikers like us should stay. We are so lucky to have met Yu Shan in Yubeng.

Both the room and the rooftop cafe offered fantastic views, and my friends were all very happy with it. The breakfast and the small cakes were delicious too. The room facilities were all smart-enabled. I'll definitely come back if I have the chance.

Perfect
MMax_S02Firstly, this has to be one of the nicest places which I stayed at in Yunnan, or in China for that matter. You may be thinking that is price is good to be true, but this place performs well above what is to be expected of that price range. I was originally planning to stay elsewhere in Benzilan, but am very glad that I stayed here.
The rooms are super spacious with high ceilings and wooden furniture. The view out of my window was very green and calming. The amenities were all well-maintained and very clean. The pictures really don't do the rooms the justice that they deserve.
Secondly, and very importantly, the owner - a young Benzilan local who operates the hotel with his mother - is exceptionally kind, genuine and friendly. As a solo traveller, he helped organise transport, offered lunch, and even some of the local liquor. As far as service goes, this place remains unbeaten amongst all the places I've travelled in China.
The hotel overlooks the mountains surrounding Benzilan. In the evening, you can peacefully sit outside the hotel on its elevated terrace and quietly watch the mountains as the sun goes down.
I would not hesitate to stay again.

GGuest UserI booked this hotel without knowing that it is known for and it was a good surprise from almost every perspective of my experience. The staff in Sunyata are very friendly, well presented and treated us with their trained professionalism as well as friendliness. Both the hotel and room interior are designed thoughtfully and by later reading the magazine that was left in the room I realised that it was meant to be a masterpiece which I think is what has been achieved with no efforts spared. The top floor enjoying a 270 degree unobstructed view of the snow mountains obviously is the cherry on the top of the cake, and it absolutely delivered and truly made the stay in the hotel one of the most unforgettable experience in Meili. The amenities are nicely provided in good quality, and the beddings feel comfortable and clean. The food we had in the attached restaurant was delicious and the interior is also a masterpiece 24 hours in a day. The only shortcoming that I can say about my experience is that the food in the self served area for the breakfast became empty with still about one hour to go, and staff seemed unbothered or even intended to do so. Overall it is a beautiful boutique hotel which was beautifully designed and operated with a high standard. I would like to revisit if I can.

TT.estI spent just one night here, making a side trip from Shangri-La to catch the sunrise over Kawagarbo peak at Meili Snow Mountain.
The room was small but comfortable—perfect for one person. The electric blankets kept me warm and toasty in the freezing weather, especially since the room heater (an A/C unit) was quite small and took a while to heat up the space.
The location was ideal. It’s only a 5-min. walk to Feilaisi Monastery, which made it easy to reach the Feilai Temple Viewing Platform. The Meili Snow Mountain National Park Scenic Area lookout point is about a 15-min. slow walk away, in a more touristy area where you’ll also find street food and restaurants.
Breakfast is served at the small onsite restaurant. I enjoyed a bowl of vermicelli soup and a cup of hot soy milk. You can choose from several noodle options, and there were dumplings on the side as well.
When I checked out early in the morning, it was snowing, and visibility was poor. The owner noticed the foggy weather and kindly offered to let me return to my room if I changed my mind about exploring and preferred to rest instead. I really appreciated the thoughtfulness and consideration.
Overall, I had a good stay here.

MM526079****The owner upgraded us to a huge suite, which totally blew us away when we walked in. It had a tea table, sofa, large TV, oxygen concentrator, humidifier, smart toilet, floor heating, and an electric blanket. The whole suite was super new and clean, like a newly opened place, and it felt on par with a four or five-star hotel. The mattress was incredibly soft and comfortable. The bathroom was also spacious, and the hot water came on instantly, even showing the current temperature, which was a thoughtful touch. The owner mentioned they hired a five-star hotel designer for it, and showering there felt luxurious. The owner was exceptionally kind, enthusiastic, and great at hospitality. They arranged pick-up and drop-off for check-in, check-out, and even for watching the 'Golden Mountain in the Sunlight' phenomenon. When I asked about the 'Silver Mountain in the Moonlight', he even offered to have someone drive us there around 11 PM and pick us up again, which was incredibly accommodating.
There's a restaurant next to the hotel lobby where guests get a 20% discount. We ordered a yak rib hotpot for two, and you could tell the meat quality was excellent – very flavorful, especially with the chili powder! The hotel's location is also great, less than a ten-minute walk from the Feilai Temple viewing platform. While the view from our window wasn't of snow-capped mountains, it was a beautiful mountain landscape, and I found it stunning. Pulling back the curtains and seeing it put me in a wonderful mood. The entire suite had many windows, making it very bright and airy. We originally booked for two nights, but our plans changed to just one, and it pained me to think we'd only get one night in such a comfortable hotel 😭.
Seriously, I loved it so much; it felt like every detail was perfect. I will definitely recommend it to friends!

MM222043****The room experience was excellent. The hotel's location is superb, right in the heart of Wunongding. You can photograph the 'sunlit golden mountains' directly from the large fifth-floor terrace, without needing to go to crowded observation decks. The rooms are clean and tidy, with oxygen supply and floor heating. The front desk staff (both the ladies and gentlemen) had an excellent service attitude. It's truly heartwarming that the hotel even offers breakfast at an altitude of over 3,000 meters on the plateau.

AAnonymous UserThey say you might not see the ”Golden Mountain in the Sun” in October, so I booked this place to avoid wasting money on a view that might not deliver. Turns out, we actually saw it! Super worth it!! The location is right next to where the bus drops you off, so it's a very easy walk, and close to the Feilai Temple viewing platform. The room was unbelievably spacious, and the underfloor heating worked perfectly. There are only four or five rooms, and the view is absolutely stunning. The owner is very simple and enthusiastic. I highly recommend this for anyone hoping to catch the Golden Mountain but worried about a wasted 4-hour drive if they miss it. The accommodation quality is easily more than triple that of other scenic hotels at the same price point, and the courtyard itself can help ease any disappointment if you don't see the sunrise.
Let's talk about the downsides:
1. Feilai Temple is currently under construction, so there are large vehicles at night. I personally wasn't bothered by the noise, but I can't guarantee others wouldn't be. This seems to be a common issue for hotels along this road.
2. The room was very clean and tidy, but I wasn't a fan of the air freshener scent. My partner didn't notice it, though.
3. There were some really large flies. I hope the owner can improve pest control. Although they'll probably freeze to death in a few days, seeing them definitely puts a damper on the mood.

MM279721****The room was cozy, clean, and comfortable, with a tasteful decor throughout. The underfloor heating and diffused oxygen supply meant we didn't have to worry about altitude sickness at all. The staff were warm and friendly! There's also a cafe and an observation deck on the top floor where you can see Baima Snow Mountain and Feilai Temple. The afternoon sun was perfect for photos, and the scenery was absolutely stunning!
The hotel's location isn't far from the Meili Snow Mountain observation deck, so transportation is very convenient. There's a snack street near the Feilai Temple observation deck, and watching the snow-capped mountains in the evening is beautiful—highly recommended! The hotel's restaurant is on the first floor, which is super convenient if you don't feel like going out in the cold.
