Great location and customer service. Staying in an old castle has its draw backs ( no elevator with room on 4th floor) , smaller rooms but well worth the experience. Food was good with a nice selection. The bar is a fantastic scotch bar with very comfortable seating and atmosphere with a great fireplace. Staff was superb and can tell they are trained well and enjoy their job. Enjoyed our stay here very much and will be back agin(. 3rd time here)

A lovely hotel. A fab room with massive bed overlooking the rear garden. A £2,50 breakfast is ridiculous. We had a full continetal and bacon eggs etc. plus tea and coffee. A nice friendly bar and staff. A good location in the town right across the road from the cathedral.

Spent Easter at the beautiful Dornoch Castle. Staff were attentive as soon as we arrived. Were shown around the Castle and then to our double room which was lovely and clean. Bed very comfortable. Restaurant staff were friendly. Continental breakfast was lovely. Selection of croissants, breads, meats, salmon, fruit, cheeses and cereals. Also bacon and eggs. Fruit juices and teas and coffees. Lunch and evening meals were great and reasonable prices. Whisky bar had a varied selection of whiskies. And bar staff very knowledgeable. Bar also had wines, spirits and beers. Staff could not do enough to help. Nothing was too much trouble. We are going to book another stay this year.

We stayed on Saturday 23rd March and had a brilliant time. Every staff member we met were friendly and efficient, from reception to restaurant. We had a great room (old courtroom) and ten restaurant served very good food. The Whisky bar is great with knowledgeable and friendly staff. Breakfast was excellent in terms of choice. Great location and very cosy.

Our friends were visiting us on the Black Isle for New Year. We stopped in for coffee at the Dornoch Castle Hotel after a bracing walk on Dornoch beach on New Year’s day. We a fabulous seat beside a roaring fire and had coffee with the most delicious homemade shortbread. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. They have an amazing collection of rare whisky which the barman was happy to tell us about. Definitely worth a visit.

We spent a night at the hotel on our NC500 trip and had a great stay in the tower room. It was very spacious with nice views of the cathedral. There was a huge four poster bed, large bathroom and comfy chairs beside the massive fireplace. The turret loo was a bit of a squeeze but part of the character of the place. The wee dram of whiskey was a nice welcoming touch!

This is our second visit to Dornoch Castle, and there’s always the worry that a second stay won’t live up to the magic of the first. We needn’t have worried though - we had a wonderful visit once again and are now even more enthralled with the Castle and the amazing staff. The castle is clean, full of wonderful character and has lots of lovely, quirky details. The beer garden is a great space to spend a sunny afternoon, the bar is atmospheric and the perfect place to sample some good, old Scottish hospitality. Our room was sunny, beautifully clean and had everything we needed. Reception staff, house keeping, bar and restaurant staff were kept busy, and managed to smile their way through some very long shifts. They were engaging and helpful and a real credit to the hotel. The restaurant was just as fabulous as we remembered too. Great atmosphere, attentive staff and the food was superb. So good, we didn’t remember to take those Instagram worthy photographs of our meal choices, we just dived in! An absolute treat! We really can’t wait to book our next visit - this place is a wee gem!

I've just about recovered from my over-indulgence at the Dornoch Whisky Festival and realised it has been a while since I told the wider public that this is my favourite hotel anywhere in the world! The rooms are well-appointed and comfortable, the food is wonderful and all the staff exceptional. Oh, and if - like me - you like whisky: it has one of the best bars in the universe! I don't just stay during the Festival, though: I picked it as the venue for celebrating my 60th birthday too!

We enjoyed one night at the Dornoch Castle Hotel on our way north. It was a real treat to stay in such an historic building. We had the Old Courtroom which was large and comfortable, and had so much character. Staff were friendly and helpful. Parking is plentiful and easy. Definitely a must-stay if you are in Dornoch.
