Please note that this is a hotel without reception!! I arrived at 18.00 and there doors were closed. When I called the hotel, I was informes that I had arrived late, that they could not help me and that they would charge me the full amount. They were extremely RUDE. MOTEL ONE just next door is excellent.

I write to complain about the low standard of service at Hofgarten 1824 on 8th July, 2022. I could not leave my bag at the hotel when I arrived after 1100 because there was no staff at the hotel. I called the hotel and was told check-in was at 1500 and that I best leave luggage at the train station in Dresden until then. After prolonged discussion, I canceled my reservation and opted to stay elsewhere. I had corresponded with the hotel about documentation prior to my trip to Dresden, by telephone and email. I was told by the woman who took my call that she did not speak English; my subsequent English email was replied to in German, which I used Google translator to understand. All correspondence I received afterward about my coming stay was at length and in German and I did not translate it. When I called the hotel from outside the closed reception on 8th July, 2022, I believe I spoke to the same woman who had taken my call about documentation prior to my trip. Her English was good enough to explain that I had estimated my arrival to be between 1000 and 1100 and that I was after all calling after 1100; that there was no check-in until 1500; and that I could not even leave my bags at the hotel and should instead proceed to the train station to leave my luggage there if I wanted to see Dresden sights in the interim. I explained that I had not been informed that there would be no chance of leaving baggage at the hotel before check-in (I had specified in an email that I would arrive late morning, after all); and that, knowing what I now knew, I would not have booked a room at her hotel. Given the unprofessionalism of my experience thus far, I canceled my room. I was billed approximately 80 euros for my late cancelation.

Das Hotel "Hofgarten 1824" besuchten wir zum 1. Mal und hatten es wegen der Fußläufigkeit zur Altstadt herausgesucht. Von vorn sieht es eher unscheinbar aus, hat aber einen gewissen Charme. Check-in & Check-out waren mit dem netten Personal sehr unproblematisch. Die Zimmer sind zweckmäßig eingerichtet, aber sehr sauber. Der Fernseher fällt eher sehr sehr klein aus, die Matratzen waren für uns okay. Nachts kann man leider nicht mit offenem Fenster schlafen, da dies ein gewisser Geräuschpegel nicht zulässt. Wir haben uns daher für die geschlossene Variante entschieden und mit den Lärmschutzfenstern wurde es daher ein erholsamer Schlaf. Das Hotel verfügt über keinen Aufzug und ist daher für ältere Menschen eher ungeeignet (zumindest die wie wir in den 3. Stock mit dem gesamten Gepäck mussten). Das Frühstück war i.O. aber nichts besonderes. Für 15,- € hätten wir dann doch einiges mehr erwartet. Das Parken ist leider nicht umsonst und kostet somit nochmals 12,- € pro Tag zusätzlich; es summiert sich. Der kleine Parkplatz befindet sich um das Hotel herum und ist für größere Autos (z.B. Ford Ranger) zu eng. Hier noch eine kleine Anmerkung: Wenn man den Check-in beendet hat und in sein Zimmer gehen möchte, gibt es im Flur leider keinerlei Anhaltspunkte, wo sich das zugewiesene Zimmer befindet. Normalerweise steht z.B. Zimmer 2-5 u.s.w. an der Wand. Daher machten wir mehrmals umsonst die Türen auf und das mit vollem Gepäck. Hier sollte es doch ein Leichtes sein, Abhilfe zu schaffen. Fazit: Es ist ein schönes Hotel mit Luft nach oben. Dennoch können wir es weiterempfehlen und kommen gerne wieder!

Ein sehr gutes Preis-Leistungs Verhältnis! Die Zimmer sind zwar schlicht aber alles was man braucht ist da. Frühstück war sehr gut und es gab eine gute Auswahl, und das Hotel ist nur ein paar Meter von der Straßenbahn Haltestelle entfernt und auch zu Fuß ist es machbar in die Altstadt zu laufen. Es gibt in der Umgebung auch sehe empfehlenswerte Lokale wie z.B. das Ausonia in der Königstraße. Aber der Highlight war das Personal; stets überaus freundlich und zuvorkommend, auch als wir zu früh zum Check in ankommen wurde uns Kaffee angeboten und unsere Zimmer in aller schneller sehr schön vorbereitet.

Dieses einfache Hotel in einem Gebäude aus dem 19. Jahrhundert mit Innenhof befindet sich in Dresden Neustadt nahe des Goldenen Reiters und ist ca. 1,7 km von der Dresdner Altstadt entfernt. Es ist einfach, aber nicht ganz so schlecht, wie hier teilweise dargestellt. Die Rezeption ist nur eingeschrönkt besetzt, daher auch der eingeschränkte Check-In. Der Empfang war aber nett. Nur wenige (kostenpflichtige) Parkplätze vorhanden, aber man hat uns auf kostenlose Parkplätze in der Nähe aufmerksam gemacht. Auf Zimmerwünsche wurde eingegangen. Die Zimmer sind groß, aber sehr schlicht eingerichtet. Zu schlicht, wenn man kuschelige Wohlfühlatmosphäre will, aber dafür sehr sauber. Und der Preis gut, so dass in unseren Augen Preis-Leistung stimmt. Das Mallheur mit einer zerschlagenen Nachttisch-Lampe wurde kulant nicht weiter berechnet. Das Frühstück ist mit 12,- € nicht gerade günstig und für den Preis dann doch etwas gering in der Auswahl und mit viel Abgepackten Produkten bestückt. Das könnte man mit wenig Einsatz optimieren.

Immer noch fassungslos sind wir über den Umgang mit uns in dieser Unterkunft, die wir in sehr guter Erinnerung hatten, von vor 10 Jahren. Letztes Wochenende allerdings mussten wir 90% des Zimmerpreises an Stornogebühren zahlen, weil es uns nicht möglich war, am Freitag vor 18 Uhr anzureisen!!! Es ist keine Anreise nach 18 Uhr möglich, nur die kostenpflichtige Stornierung der gebuchten Nacht. Gastfreundschaft oder auch nur Gastlichkeit, das Kerngeschäft eines Hotels, ist das sicher nicht. Wir könnten uns ja ein anderes Hotel such, wurde uns noch geraten. Als wir dann in der verbliebenen Nacht im Hofgarten ankamen: Schmutz im Zimmer wohin das Auge reichte. Wir können nur schreiben: Finger weg von dieser Herberge!
