The place is nice but I would not stay there in the winter. It is extremely, extremely cold. We had loadshedding from 17:00 - 21:00. While there is loadshedding, there is no hot water. We were freezing and couldn't stand the thought of another night, so we went somewhere else with a proper fireplace, not just a built-in braai. I am sure it is lovely and cool in Summer but I would not recommend it during winter 🥶☹

We looked forward to enjoying a long weekend away to Dullstroom, and the Treelands Estate looked like the perfect venue for this. My wife had to write online exams and since the listing showed that WiFi was included, we were confident that she would be able to study and write her tests while there. Further, the listing also indicated that there is DSTV, and with the rugby on the Saturday, I thought the weekend was going to be perfect. Lo and behold, when we picked up our keys, there was a note on there that either the WiFi or DSTV won't be working - of course, neither one worked. Reaching out to the host about this only granted the answer that the restaurant down the road has WiFi, my wife can write her exam there. Very helpful. Apparently a lightning strike took down the tower, but looking at past reviews this is a common theme (never mind the fact that no other venue had internet problems). I also had to hear how city people can switch on the Kalahari TV and relax. Very presumptuous and a convenient excuse to not provide advertised services. I will not go back there, and would not recommend anyone to stay at Treelands.

First night we had no hot water, and the water was leaking from the ceiling in the bathroom and bedroom onto the bed, and then the lights was also not working at one stage.

During our stay, the advertised Wi-Fi was not working. After reaching out to the agent at Treelands, we were given an excuse that the entire town was without service. However, as someone with an IT background, I knew this wasn't true as I had conducted tests on the connection. The agent continued to provide excuses, and while he offered a complimentary night, it did not resolve our issues. We had planned to watch the rugby at home, but his suggestion to go to a restaurant was not feasible as we had very young children with us. Unfortunately, we received no further assistance. Additionally, we did not have keys to the main bedroom door leading outside. Despite messaging the manager, who was supposedly available throughout our stay, we received no response, leaving us unable to access that door. The electricity kept tripping after using the shower and kettle. On Saturday morning, we were unable to go out as workers were fixing the geyser, which we had to allow as we otherwise had no hot water. Overall, the experience did not meet expectations, and I would not recommend this place unless they address these issues and deliver on what is advertised.

My Family & I did not get to stay at Treelands Abbey, due to the fact that their electricity had been disconnected two days before our arrival. The experience I had communicating with the Owner was terrible. I had to find alternative accommodation on arrival day and in the process lost R13 000, which the Owner did not refund. I wasn't the only one that had this experience. Spread the word as no-one else should have the same experince and loose so much money.

I contacted the owner and requested accommodation for 2 months. The owner requested a deposit equal to one months rent of R8500. Although we were only staying for 2 months I paid the deposit and subsequent monthly rentals before the end of each month. When we vacated the unit after 2 months the owners managing agent inspected the unit and was happy to refund deposit. It has now been a month since we moved out and despite numerous messages to the owner I have not been refunded my deposit. The owner has ignored me as well as the managing agents requests to owner to refund deposit. In my opinion, unless the owner has a valid reason to withhold my deposit, this behavior is completely dishonest. Also the DSTV never worked, the Wi Fi was off more than on, the unit needs maintenance etc etc.

Very little effort would have made this better. Fixing the blind in the ground floor bedroom which is the one most needing privacy, better signage to the front door which was confusing, dustbins in the bedrooms or en-suite bathrooms, taps not turned so tight they could barely be opened, if the manager knew a kettle was missing why not find out which unit and sort it out before the guests arrived and cleanliness- are the maids ever checked? There were empty chip packets in cupboards and a mess behind the sofa when we moved it to get closer to the fire.

The location of the Estate is perfect. Close to town. The room has all the necessary self catering needs. Place to make a fire/ braai as well. There are loads of little restaurants in town for a great breakfast
