The Hydro Esplande apartments are beautifully located right on the ocean. Besides the opportunity to sit by the sea there is a rooftop sitting area. There is a well equipped kitchen (unfortunately there is no dishwasher or washer/dryer). The shower has excellent water pressure and has plenty of towels. I loved the towel warmer. The tv works well. Unfortunately the Blu-ray player was not connected and there were no wires for me to do so. Buying one in town was ridiculously high. The dining area and the bedroom have great views. The bed is very comfortable. They have a nice information sheet and have brochures about various attractions in the area. I thoroughly enjoyed Dunedin and this apartment.

Fantastic apartments, we stayed in the two bedroom which was clean, comfy and well equiped with stunning sea views. The host Katharine has gone above and beyond to make her guests feel at home. It is not often you find accomodation that lives up to the photos online but can honestly say our apartment exceeded our expectations! Plus, if you are looking for great coffee and a bite to eat you have plenty of options with in a short stroll- we love "Salt" the cafe below the apartments. Can't recommend the Hydro enough, will be our go to choice whenever we are in Dunedin.

This was a superb place to stay to explore Dunedin from. The apartment had many of the older features to it at the same time beautifully clean and resourced. We loved being right on St Clair Beach as we were able to watch the surfers as well as walk along walkway. The owner was excellent in her communication with us. We could not fault our stay. It was so easy to get to Dunedin, The airport and The Peninsula from here. The Italian Restaurant in the ground floor was great. We would highly recommend The Hydro.

Great location with plenty of free parking . Well equipped kitchen , comfy beds , very quiet and safe , fabulous roof top deck for morning coffee and modern bathroom . So glad we decided to stay at the beach rather than the city . Perfect location for exploring both the city and the otago peninsula .

Lovely apartment with view over the strand and our across beach to the south. Great café and restaurants nearby, with a great vibe. Nice and quiet apartment. In an older building, but very clean and tidy, comfortable bed also. Great range of teas for tea drinkers (my wife), and really good plunger coffee (for me). Cafe up the road does great cinnamon scrolls for breakfast! Great service from Catherine. Highly recommended.

We had a fabulous stay, compact but very comfortable apartment with beautiful ocean views, comfy bed & fold out in lounge, nice linen, fluffy robes, heaps of towEl & complimentary cheese & crackers was a welcome touch. Esplanade Restaurant became a quick favorite. Easy uber into town. Would stay again & recommend without hesitation.
