Pool empty and apparently has been for over a year, no food available at all in Dusty’s Bar, no shop at all, sites full of big ant holes and bindy, amenities appear to not have been cleaned since last season and don’t try any of the seemingly great sounding walking trails, you will be lucky not to get lost! Nicest part was the sunset on the Cockburn Ranges! And you are still charged the same rate even though there is nothing available! Would recommend NOT stopping there, such a shame as the original infrastructure is magnificent it just has not been maintained!

Great facilities with hot showers and a wonderful swimming pool. Very well priced food and good beers on tap in the bar. Brilliant fishing tour run by Warwick to the Pentecost River. I caught a 90 cm Barra on the top of the tide. Couldn’t be happier.

Awesome place for both kids and adults - playground and swimming pool for kids, pub and restaurant complete with big screen tv for the adults. Booked 1 night, stayed 2, would have loved to stay longer. Thank you to the lovely friendly helpful staff.

We stayed in a lovely peaceful Grass Castle overlooking the river with birds frequenting. The room was spacious, comfortable and well equipped. We dined in Dusty’s which was reasonably priced and delicious. They even did a salad for me one night I felt like something light. Staff were friendly. The pool refreshing. The sunset tour was a highlight with indigenous young women leading us in knowledge and experience whilst overlooking the spectacular Country. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here! Thank you to the Balanggarra traditional owners & operators

Restaurant was excellent and good value , staff were friendly and very good, but never stay in Caravan bay “U”. Your awning will face two unpowered bays, which in our case held at two cars per bay with another car parked across the road. This gave us 10 people at our door and an open fire directly on the edge of our awning zone filling our van with smoke and noise from drunken people till late in the night. The rest of the bays seemed ok, but be careful, some of the powered sites like ours don’t have water as stated at check in. Very expensive stay for a crap night.

Best night on the Gibb. Unpowered site out at River view- perfection on the banks of the Pentecost!! We fished, we had a fire, we had hot showers, this we such a surprise. The pub/restaurant was so cool, great food and friendly staff. Would recommend this place.

Had a great undercover playground for the kids but not worth $84 for 1 night, unpowered for a family of 5 ! The pool was nice to cool off in but looked like it needed a good clean. The washing machines were also over priced at $7. The meal we had was also below average.

May 2023 Along our travels we were told that Home Valley was not very good . DONT LISTEN to others - take advice and then continue with your plans — We have had the most amazing experience - we stayed in Cabins that was clean and very comfortable — the bar area was huge with plenty of seating and on our couple of nights there was a very talented guy playing guitar and singing adding to a great night talking to other travellers over a few drinks . All amenities , including the pool was clean. We had dinner with limited options but I can tell you that the food was fantastic - I personally had steak and chips that was absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend the Home Valley Station as our experience was awesome. Naturally If you travel the first couple weeks of the session you should not expect all cattle stations to have all resources in place , an abundance of staff, etc. MOST of All experience for your self before being driven by misguided information . Get out and about and support the community.

This place deserves more than one star. It’s situated in a pristine location, the homestead facilities are lovely, and sunrise coming over the Cockburn ranges at the River bush camp is something else. Their main attraction though is their walking trails and for which they have published an immaculate trail-guide full of topographical maps and trail details, sadly now in stark contrast to the trails themselves which are in such a state of disrepair as to make them nearly impossible to self navigate. No warning from staff or information points about how badly overgrown and poorly maintained the trails are. Really disappointing and frustrating that they can’t invest some money and effort into maintaining the tracks, it wouldn’t take much. Aside from this, when we booked several months in advance, the only accommodation option left was the bush camp. When we arrived however, the four homestead camps were nearly empty and there were even cabins available. The online price we paid was also significantly more than the advertised price, for which they refunded us. The reception staff did a fairly poor job at giving us the run down of the place and facilities, all seemed new, pretty clueless, and were rarely able to answer our questions. There was a problem with the on-site water at the time, with no potable water on site, not even tap water served with meals!! Staff were pretty poor at explaining this however. The pool was also closed for maintenance the entire time we were there, which was definitely disappointing after spending an entire morning getting lost in bush. This station could be truly amazing, but fails dismally to hit the mark compared to all the other stations on the Gibb. Do yourself a favor and continue on to El Questro, Ellenbrae, or Mt Elizabeth.
