Hotel has a central location. Rooms are of a high standard. Received a complimentary drink in the room as a birthday surprise which was very kind. Would recommend!

When I booked the Royal County Durham. It clearly showed a photo of a swimming pool and spa. So you can imagine my reaction when I was informed there's been no pool for quite a long time . When I feel I've been feel missold this hotel, at the end of the day false selling.

The hotel is ideally located in the city centre, easy access and nice location near the river. Over a 6 day stay my room was only cleaned and tea/coffee restocked once, which was a little disappointing considering there’s no reduction in price for the longer stay. The staff were generally friendly and remembered details from my checkin which was a nice touch. Room service was hit and miss - one was very late (but then not charged) and the other had no steak knife or condiments - generally tasty though.

This time I went to visit my daughter who was studying at Durham University and stayed at this hotel again. I was still satisfied. The location is great and the surrounding scenery is also great.
