Hotel Nais Beach

This family run hotel is well located - close to the archaeological sites (Venetian Tower and Amphitheatre), the promenade and the main town. Set in a side street, it's also quiet. Breakfast is really good - with delicious home made cakes and jams and local cheeses. Rooms clean and comfortable, - fridge and heated towel rail and strong Wi-Fi. Included. I had Room 301 which had views of the Venetian Tower, the docks and the town. Family who own and run the hotel (and live there) are helpful and can tell you about the history of the hotel and their family

We booked a sea double room view room with balcony at this hotel as part of an anticipated 2 day stay in Durres. We arrived mid afternoon and were shown to our room on the 6th Floor. The room had a partial sea view but mainly faced to the sea front road to the city. We were underwhelmed by the room given it was the most expensive room of any of our 2 week + stay. It had a cot inside (not required) that clearly someone could not be bothered to move. We asked to look at another room but this was wrongly configured (single beds). No other rooms were available although the hotel appeared quiet. Later in the evening we struggled to get the air conditioning (AC) working, the fridge door did not close & we tried reporting it but the phone did not work. I went to reception & the gentleman came to the room & configured the AC and asked that we wait 10 minutes for it to take effect. With no joy after that time, I revisited the reception and requested a room change. This was conceded although grudgingly. We were moved to the room we were shown earlier. There remained several things that did not work in that room, TV, no toilet paper, fridge issues, but we were keen to sleep. In the morning we had breakfast which seemed ok at first, although later that day both of us became ill which may have been linked to that breakfast. I don't undertake that many reviews but undertook this one as I was surprised at the favourable reviews/ratings at this hotel but has no resemblance to our own experience.
