We had an really lovely set birthday meal for my mum here. Food was gorgeous. Had a walk around afterwards & the garden is nice. Pool bar area looks nice aswell although didn't go in. Would definitely go back. We saw Michael Caine after the meal.

We just stayed for the night (& dinner) before going on to holiday in Cornwall. This was our third visit to Lympstone. So how did it compare to previous visits? The hotel is in a beautiful location, especially if the weather is kind and the sun shines to show off the delightful views. Fortunately that was what we got and so I’ve uploaded some photos. We choose yet another different room. Last time was Oystercatcher. This time was Kingfisher. Both of these mini suites / rooms have uninterpreted views do to the estuary. With the afternoon sun temperatures were quickly in the 20c’s and it was lovely. We enjoyed light refreshments and enjoyed the views after our drive. Dinner as always was a delight. The man can sure cook. On a serious point, I fail to understand why Lympstone doesn’t warrant a second Michelin star. Our experiences of a recent 1*’s & 2*’s says Michael Caine is still at the very top of his game. One slightly disappointment, echoed by the guests at the next table to us as well, was breakfast. Why does it take a short order chef over 20 minutes to produce poached eggs? So the whole breakfast thing was slow and correspondingly disappointing.

Excellent service food and venue - also great wines and amazing views. Personal touches directly from the owner/chef including room upgrade - altogether a perfect stay and will be back .

We stayed at Lympstone Manor which is in a lovely setting. The staff were great. The experience of the signature tasting menu was amazing. The highlight was getting to meet Michael Caines afterwards. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

If there was less than one star I would have selected it. Went here with my husband for my 60th birthday. Started off with a champagne cream tea with my 86 year old mum - that rang warning bells from the off. First off they had us down for two not three despite having been informed about the numbers. Sandwiches were dry, scones desiccated, cakes unimaginative. Having dropped mum off I then saw our suite - dirty cushions, shabby paintwork, dingy room with little natural light. For almost £900 a night I expect so much more. For a Realis and Chateaux establishment I expect so much more. Disgusting is the adjective I would use for Lympstone. Too late to check out that night, we left the following morning cutting short a four night stay. I spent my birthday morning in tears. We were still charged £1,000 + for the privilege of one night's shoddy stay - things must be desperate financially to do this to customers. I have stayed in so many lovely places, many of them costing a lot of money. But it is about value for money and this place really is the pits - it is a real rip off. save your monies and stay somewhere like Le Manoir Aux Quatre Seasons - high prices but an outstanding experience. This experience was just dire.

This is a very expensive hotel - I paid nearly £900 for a room for the night. For this price, you expect a lot. I’ve spent less than this a night on the most amazing hotel in the world to me (six senses in the Maldives). Positives - beautiful room (but not £900–a-night room), restaurant food was superb and breakfast, staff all super helpful and nice views. Negatives - pool was freezing to the point where we could only stay in for a few minutes. Just not good enough. Room was too hot. No window just a door (that has small windows on it) but a large room and windows not enough. A Dyson fan supplied but I couldn’t sleep for how hot it was - again, just not good enough for the money. Don't charge so much and I won’t expect so much. I was told no AC as an old building, but I have stayed in a lot older buildings than this that had AC. I think for the price you expect a nicer changing area by the pool - there were no robes other than those in your room. I asked for some but they didn’t arrive. Overall, it wasn’t an unpleasant stay - far from it - but it’s just far too expensive for what it is and that ruins it.

My wife and I enjoyed 3 nights dinner, bed and breakfast at Lympstone Manor. The Hotel grounds including the superb vineyard are fabulous with fantastic views across the Exe Estuary. The Hotel offers 'comfortable luxury' with staff who are friendly and approachable yet remain fully professional at all times. Our Suite (Redshank) was very comfortable and kept to an immaculate order during our stay. The nearby pantry being a real treat! The lounge bar with options to sit on the outside terrace again didn't disappoint with some fantastic cocktails and fine wines. We particularly enjoyed the Lympstone Manor Rose which stands tall among the finer Provence Rose's also on offer. We enjoyed both Estuary Taster Menu and the A La Carte menu both at the highest standards of cuisine again enjoyed with some excellent fine wines. My favourites among the spectacular include the Quail, Duck, Lobster Ravioli and the Pistachio Soufflé. All in all an excellent stay and we are in the process of arranging a large family group booking for next year but I'm sure my wife and I will be returning before that!

A night at Lympstone Manor is an immersive experience which needs to be savoured. Arriving at Lympstone Manor, the setting is breathtaking. The drive leads to beautiful views, overlooking the estuary, whatever the weather. Staff were all welcoming and attentive but not intrusive. My husband and I were taken to our extremely comfortable suite (the Gull) with views of the estuary, from the bed, which was very comfortable. The complimentary bottle of Lympstone gin, was a nice touch. Swimming pool was great, despite the lack of summer sunshine. The highlight of the stay was the dinner. Starting with canapés in the lounge. Each course was amazing, beautiful to look at and totally delicious. Exceeding expectations, despite the fact that we have dined there before. At the end of the evening Michael came out of the kitchen to welcome everyone. Can’t wait to go back again.
