Fabulous food. Lovely family hotel where the children helped serve us. Beef was delicious as was the cheese. Wine superb and charming service. Shame we didn’t stay in the hotel. Lucky to have found it. Location close to the river for swimming and canoeing. Has a lovely pool and sunbathing area. Didn’t see the bedrooms.

Very warm welcome from Nico on arrival, our room was comfortable with a beautiful view. The bedding was clean and the bathroom efficient. We stayed 3 nights for a family wedding nearby and had no issues. We did not sample breakfast or use the restaurant but the dining area and pool looked very nice.

We've been a few times now for lunch and dinner and it never disappoints. The menu is creative and delicious. The staff are always excellent, friendly (and funny!), attentive but not intrusive. Perfect for a special evening out with friends or a celebration.

This hotel really does need a refurb. The first room we were shown was in the basement and was really dark plus the furnishings were very poor. We did change rooms and it was an improvement, but for the money it is not good value. The location is the best thing about it and they don’t seem to have any competition hence the price. Unless this hotel has a major makeover I would not recommend it.

Avoid this new management at all costs! We were looking forward to our long awaited favourite restaurant in Aubeterre. Having visited the area for 13 years and this being our first time since lockdown. The previous owners were a delight, but what a let down now. We were met with a surly greeting and waited whilst sat at our table in searing humidity for 15 minutes without menus. We were ignored twice upon speaking to a waiter, who then stood around chatting to a coworker! Given the premium style and cost of this restaurant, we quickly realised these new owners would be disappoint. A huge shame as the old owners were lovely and vested in the quaint place. End of an era.

We didn't stay at the hotel, but we did eat at the restaurant several times -= so this is a restaurant review!!!! And it is a good restaurant with a talented chef. In fact, we ate there 4 times, one of them being Bastille Day when there was a special menu to celebrate. The food is beautifully presented and the ingredients are of high quality - evident in the vivid flavours! I had everything from shellfish to pork and they were all brilliant, as were the fish that my wife ate. Having eaten in a number of restaurants in Aubeterre, I would say that this is the best restaurant in the town! Well worth a visit!

This was very disappointing. Not a cheap lunch with a set menu for Mother’s Day. The dishes were definitely style over substance. The service was a bit lack-lustre and it felt they really weren’t bothered whether we enjoyed it or not, upsetting as my parents spent a lot on this as a family celebration and it really let itself down.

Une soirée parfaite à l’Hôtel du Périgord ! Situé en Charente , cet établissement allie charme, confort et accueil chaleureux. La chambre était impeccable, bien équipée et très calme, idéale pour se reposer après une longue journée Le restaurant est une véritable pépite : des produits frais, une cuisine généreuse et raffinée, avec un excellent rapport qualité-prix. Le service est attentionné, souriant et professionnel du début à la fin. Un grand merci à toute l’équipe .
