Albyn Townhouse

Excellent place and Lydie is the star of the show. Happy to help in any way possible and her enthusiastic nature certainly rubs off on you. Visited twice in the last month and will be visiting again when in Edinburgh. The location is great. Bruntsfield has everything you need if you don’t fancy going into town with some good bar/pubs/restaurants. Easy transport links into the city if you don’t fancy the walk.

We stayed at the Albyn Townhouse in Edinburgh for 3 nights at Easter 2024 as part of a longer break involving some time in the Highlands. The accommodation is wonderfully positioned in a very quiet part of town, albeit 20 minutes pleasant walk through the Links from the Old Town. It's also 2 minutes from Bruntsfield centre which has a selection of eateries. The property itself is beautifully decorated and well appointed and we felt really relaxed. Our room was a fantastic size, as was the bed which was really comfortable. Lydie is a lovely host and made us feel very welcome. We'd return here in a heartbeat and have no hesitation in recommending this little Gem!

We spent a very enjoyable few days (Monday to Friday, early December) at the Albyn. Its a large Victorian townhouse at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac, 5 minutes walk from the bustle of Bruntsfield's coffee shops, bakeries and restaurants. A large high-ceiling room, state of the art bathroom with tea and coffee making in the room. We were left to ourselves to come and go as we pleased although Lydie was always around if needed. Its a 30-40 minute walk to the sights or a 10 minute bus ride (public transport in Edinburgh is excellent). I found that once home. I missed Bruntsfield more than I missed Edinburgh. A lovely place for a short break. The wi-fi code is Lovely House - and it is.

Absolute little gem of a guest house . From stepping through the front door made to feel very welcome . Lydia the host is so friendly with a good sense of humour and a very independent woman. The guest house is beautiful and quirky .We stayed in room 5 very large and comfortable room . King size bed coffee machine kettle . Lived the little touches of touch mallow on bed and love heart seeets on pillow . allow so galaxy hot choc mmmm . well done Lydia you are fantastic at what you do (strong woman ). We stayed 3 nights in this B&B in a magnificent large superior room on the first floor .It was certainly the largest room we have ever been provided with. Plenty of room to relax in with couches, chairs and tables. Facilities include a safe, TV and coffee and free WI Fi. The continental breakfast for 9 pounds was a bargain. The host Lydia could not do enough for us and even though she ran the place on her own , including cleaning the rooms and looking after 3 children she was always there when we needed help or travel advice. We would certainly recommend this establishment as it is also at the end of a dead end street so no noise and is only a short bus ride to the centre of Edinburgh.

My husband and I loved our stay at Albyn Townhouse! From the moment we stepped through the front door, Lydie made us feel so welcome and cared for. She provided us with a map and detailed directions of the best way to get to the Royal Mile, offered recommendations for what to do, and was so kind in asking us about our trip so far and offering tips for exploring the city. Her warmth and enthusiasm were truly an asset that set our stay apart! On top of that, the room was exceptionally comfortable and well-kept. Also, highly recommend ordering the breakfast-in-bed at least one morning of your stay. It was absolutely delicious and so luxurious to enjoy the full spread in the comfort of our room! One thing to keep in mind is that Albyn Townhouse is outside the main tourist part of the city. It wasn't a problem for my husband and I, as we enjoyed the 20-30 minute walk through a lovely park each morning. But if you're looking for super quick access to the Royal Mile and other tourist attractions, Albyn Townhouse may be a bit far from the hub.

The townhouse is in a great location. Close to restaurants and in the Bruntsfield area which is beautiful. Walk to the Royal Mile took about 35-40 minutes. Room was small but cozy and clean. Had everything you needed in the room and the host was great. Our TV remote and coffee maker were not working and both were replaced promptly. I would definitely stay at the Albyn house again. We were in room 8 which gave us a fantastic view of the castle. Beautiful townhouse in a beautiful and safe area. Carrie & Greg.

A beautiful house in a perfectly quiet location. Easy access into centre of town - approx 15 minute Uber ride, and plenty of local facilities including some interesting cafes and restaurants. Room very comfortable and shower very good! Lydie is extremely helpful and friendly with great communication at all times.

Highly recommended. We stayed 2 nights in Room 5, Albyn Townhouse. It was lovely - comfortable and clean, facilities to make hot drinks. Lydie was very welcoming and our car parking (arranged in advance of booking) was great. The Albyn Townhouse is well located for the city centre.
