This was my favorite place we stayed in Iceland, which is saying a lot considering the other wonderful properties we visited. This is like a tiny village set far back in the country. As we drove in, a herd of long horned goats were trotting down the road, and Tova the Fjalladyrd reindeer came to greet us when we pulled in. The lovely sod buildings and church added to the charm. We had both dinner and breakfast in the restaurant. They offer several traditional Icelandic recipes on the menu, such as Moss Soup, farm raised lamb, reindeer, and cod. I don't know that I would want to eat Moss Soup everyday, but it was a great experience to try it. Breakfast was very good the next morning. Our family group of five stayed in the large cabin. We were very comfortable. The only thing that would have made our stay even better is if there was a bathroom on the 2nd floor where most of the bedrooms were located. But we so enjoyed our stay that we considered that a mild inconvenience to walk downstairs for the restroom. Absolutely lovely setting, friendly service, lovely historic buildings all made this a wonderful, memorable stay!

This was our favorite overnight stay in Iceland. It has the feel of a tiny village, about 4 miles down a dirt road from the main highway. It is a quaint and charming, setting, with a nice restaurant, hotel, outdoor seating areas, and scenic views of the nearby volcano. Our dinner in the restaurant was excellent. We stayed in the hotel, which is a separate building just a short walk away. Our rooms were very nice and comfortable. Overall, a very enjoyable experience. We only wish we could have stayed longer than one night.

This hotel in the Iceland highlands is an exceptional property. We were blessed with great weather, clear skies, and a lovely view of the Aurora Borealis! The rooms are very nice, the beds good, and the views from the back of each room are spectacular. The restaurant is very good and the included breakfast is excellent. There are choices for all dietary needs. The lounge in the front of the guesthouse has facilities for coffee and tea along with comfortable seating areas. In addition to the generally excellent facilities, local tour options include 4x4 excursions. A great place to stay!!!

Magic place in the middle of Iceland. Our room was so nice and even the shared bathroom. Adam was very nice and the food is also very good at the restaurant. We had the chance to see the arctic foxes. An incredible experience!

These people charged us and then refused to honor our reservation, sending us to a crappy hostel and refusing to refund any of our money. The whole property looks like a scam and no one should stay here.

I loved this place. And it may be one of our favorite hotels. This hotel is in the middle of nowhere. You have to travel down some gravel roads to get to it. That seems like a minus to me. But let me tell you why I love it. First, it has hotels plus camp grounds. So you see all sorts of interesting camper vans and probably can meet lots of interesting people. Our hotel room had a rustic feel and it was clean. It’s literally in the middle of nowhere so there’s no light pollution. If you want to see the aurora, you’ll be in luck. There is a restaurant on premise. We had the fish, which was decent. But they also served reindeer steak and that meat was quite tender. So I highly recommend getting it. Inside the dining room, a corner has a small play kitchen so our kid loved it. I saw some dogs. But they have an overly friendly goat that’ll allow you to scratch and pet it. But what I really loved are the 2 Arctic foxes that live nearby. Around breakfast time, go to the reception and ask if you can tag along when they feed the foxes. These foxes’ parents died so the people working there have been feeding them. But the foxes are still wild. You can see them playing out at night too. The area around the hotel is beautiful. If you’re going to the Myvatn area but wanted to stop before you reach there, then give this place a try.
