Good location in square, parking on race course was a pain as the machines only took cash no cards - £10 for overnight parking. Stayed in the Rhyed (i think) room.. There was no mention about steep stairs to first floor, we had 2 steps down into room and worse 2 steps up into bathroom.. it was a nightmare trying to get to bathroom with a sore hip as one of the steps is quite deep and no handrail. You can not tell from the photograph or i would not have booked. No TV, only there one night otherwise could have been an issue . The carpets have lots of stains it didn't give a good impression.. No breakfast but we had lovely meal at Cartmel coffee, but this was a further £25.00 on top of the room price and parking. We didn't eat here so can't comment.

Just what we wanted in great location This is really a pub with rooms. Suits us fine. Several places within 100 yards for breakfast. Lovely beers, friendly staff, welcoming to families, limited menu but v good cooking. Great room overlooking the square. Super beer garden. Recommend.

Good, solid, country pub doing all the things you want it to do - choice of local, ales; Solid pub grub - burgers excellent; gammon ‘chunk’ just what you want. Stickey Toffee pudding a must (especially in Carmel !). Friendly staff,; prompt service - enjoyable evening.

I called in for a quick bite to eat on a lush sunny day and ended up staying for a while as it was so pretty and peaceful. The staff were all really friendly, I grabbed a drink at the bar and was given a menu to take out into the garden. They were serving Sunday lunch but also had a lighter menu on offer which I decided to order from. I went with the chicken wrap and fries which was so tasty, the wrap was jam packed and full of flavour, with some sort of garlic/chilli sauce that was unreal! The pub itself is beautiful, with low ceilings, dark wood and so many original features. The bar is well stocked with a good variety of choices and lots of specials from local breweries. The beer garden for me is the star of the show I could have sat here all day. I can’t wait to come back again.

Nice stay in heart of Cartmel Lovely old building very conveniently situated for us. No television in the room, whilst not a problem for us, might prove an issue for others. Staff very helpful and friendly.
