I’ve been to a few La Quintas and this was the worst. We arrived at night and this hotel was very dimly lit. We drove to our room and noticed a man lurking in the shadows of the hotel. We rushed up to our room, only to find the door wouldn’t open. We got a new room and requested it be at the front of the hotel. We thought that was safer, but we then noticed a guy with no shoes walking around, trying to open hotel doors. The room door was very hard to get to lock, it didn’t lock automatically when you closed it, so I had to keep opening and closing it until it would click locked. There were crusty stains on areas of the carpet. There was a really gross smell in the bathroom - don’t know if it was the cleaning agent they used or mildew or what. But, none of us wanted to take a shower in there. We were awakened at 8 AM by kids repeatedly running around outside yelling. We wanted to get out of the hotel as quickly as possible and felt like it seemed a lot safer in the morning - until we noticed the shoeless guy watching us as we started loading up our car. He then watched which room we were going back into to get the rest of our stuff. We felt nervous to bring our kids out of the room to go out to the car, and noticed the shoeless guy was with another guy, talking behind the dumpster. We closed the hotel door, and tried it to make sure it had locked and it opened right up - which is probably why that guy was trying doors. This place needs more lights and to fix the door locks.
