Lovely little riad with easy access to everything. The rooms are immaculate and very comfortable. The breakfast room is a delight and the breakfast meal is the best we had in 3 weeks of travel. Everyone is friendly, helpful and informative. I highly recommend staying here.

Our stay at the Dar Awil Essaouira was our best and cleanest experience in Morocco. The host Alvie was fantastic and made us feel at home. His advice and local knowledge was invaluable and he did everything to make us feel welcome and comfortable. The RIAD was beautifully decorated with sophisticated Moroccan and European influences with a fine eye for detail. Our bed was extremely comfortable and dressed with quality linens and the room was alway filled with the sound of the ocean waves crashing on the shore a short distance away. Soaps and Shampoos and roses were changed daily. The staff were very professional and we loved watching our 6 course breakfast cooked in front of us each morning, while relaxing orchestral music played in the background. This banquet was always cooked to perfection by the in-house chef and was served by candlelight. We loved drinking our wine on our private balcony in the late afternoon with a garden view and the chorus of seagulls in the distance. We enjoyed our stay so much we rebooked again 10/10.

The Riad was clearly taken care of really well. The owners have great taste and pride and make every effort to please their guests.
The breakfasts were wonderful and the staff were great.

We had a double en-suite room with balcony, very peaceful and quiet once inside, felt very private and safe. Linens were super clean and refreshed daily. Beautiful breakfasts made with love and care each morning. Our hosts were kind and enthusiastic and keen to make all guests welcome. We felt very privileged to stay in such an inviting and homely space. Highly recommended as location was great and there are lots of restaurants and hammams close by. We also caught the Supratours bus to Marrakesh which was a 5 minute walk from the Riad.

We stayed at Dar Awil for 7 nights and we have to say it was a lovely experience and a wonderful Riad" Our room was presented beautifully and was immaculately clean and very comfortable. Location was was excellent , we were just inside the medina in a quiet spot Best of all was the breakfast -it was excellent and set us up for the day with a wonderful selection of sweet and savoury. We would highly recommend a stay here you certainly won’t be disappointed.

I stayed at Riad Dar Avil and what can I say...."what a wonderful Riad". Omar and his staff were fantastic - the rooms were beautiful and the bed was very comfortable. In terms of location it was perfect, we were in the medina in a very quiet location and the beach was about 5mins walk. The best of all was the breakfast - I have stayed in many Moroccan hotels/Riads and I can honestly say this was the best breakfast by far. The food was the best locally cooked food I have tasted in Morocco. Omar arranged a day trip to visit the Ida Ogourd Souk - and it was a delightful day and an insight into the real Morocco, we then went to have lunch and visited some local moroccans in the village. So a big thank you for Omar and his team at Riad Dar Avil.

I enjoyed a wonderful stay at the Riad Dar Awil. From the moment I arrived I received the warmest of welcomes. The riad is located in the medina and only a few twists and turns in the alleyways away from the shops, cafes and restaurants. The riad provides a wonderful haven of peace. The decor is very Moroccan and so tasteful. I was given a lovely bedroom at the front of the property. I found it spacious, nicely decorated and immaculately clean. It also had a large en-suite bathroom. The staff at Riad Dar Awil were all delightful and couldn’t do enough to assist. I was really impressed that on arrival I was provided with a map of Essaouira and talked through the must see places, places with the best view of the sunset, where to get the best views of the camel caravan and where to find the best value restaurants. I found this incredibly useful and I referred to this map many times during my visit to Essaouira. The breakfast each morning was amazing. The variety offered was both impressive and plentiful. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Riad Dar Awil and wouldn’t hesitate in staying here again if the opportunity arose.

This is a very clean and quiet Riad. The owners and staff are wonderful. It is off the Main Street, easy to find and easy to go into the center of the Medina. We highly recommend. Great value.

Located in the heart of the medina, all the major attractions are a short walk away. Dar Awil is clean, comfortable, and beautiful (the online photos do not do it justice). Essaouira is known for delicious food but the breakfast at the riad may have been one of the best meals we had (I am still dreaming about the egg tagine). Finally, the staff, Zac and Makmoud, helped make our stay perfect! They were helpful, friendly, and such a pleasure to spend time. It can be difficult traveling nowadays but Zac was able to answer all of our question and helped make our travel as smooth as possible. I can’t wait to come back! ♥️
