Great Huts

I've just come back from a road trip in Jamaica with my family and our stay at the Great Huts was my absolute favorite of the trip 😄. The staff is super friendly and helpful with ideas of activities. A special thanks to Roberta who served us well and had interesting discussions with us, and to Denis the great surf teacher, who made us stand on our surf even if it was our first try ever 🏄‍♀️. The huts themself are amazing, we had view on the ocean from our bed and we could listen to the waves and the bird while falling asleep. Great idea to put a mosquito net for the bed, cause I would have been eaten alive 😂. The 2 pools are peaceful and cute, the restaurant is atypical but beautiful and the meals where so tasteful. Everything was super clean and easy to understand. Thanks a lot for this wonderful experience and I hope to come back one day and stay longer 🌴.

The whole experience felt like a dream, my only complaint was I didn’t stay longer! The staff were super friendly and helpful. The beach was beautiful and the view from the pool was incredible. My chef boyfriend and I agreed the food was some of the best meals we’ve had!

You get both comfort and being in nature. Very friendly helpful staff, everyone including taxi driver who picked me up from airport in Kinston and surfing instructor at the beach..Yoga classes, massage therapy and reiki with Diana were awesome, make sure to book them upfront prior to your trip, they are available for additional cost. Good restaurant. Relaxed atmosphere, especially if you are here for get away from big city. Hope to visit again soon!

Great Huts is one of my all time favourite vacation spots. A perfect place to escape and really relax. Stunningly beautiful and so comfortable. Great staff. Fig tree was amazing but would stay in any. Great food, comfy beds with incredible views. The art in the great house was incredible and it was an absolute pleasure to spend time with Dr. Paul. He really made our trip special. Can’t wait to get back!

A fabulous hotel. Incredibly friendly and helpful folks - I've never hugged hotel staff when leaving before, but here it felt right. We ate at the restaurant every night as it was delicious, with an excellent choice of 4 vegan mains. Some reviews have complained about price, I thought it comparable to American cost and portion sizes (around 20 USD for a main course). Service is slow, as it is a tiny kitchen, so we were encouraged to send our order by WhatsApp in advance to enable planning. The rooms are really quirky. We stayed in the Almond Tree, with it's bamboo walls and internal ladder. The bathroom is at funny angles to get around tree roots but this added to the quirkiness. Some of the carving is from Charles Brown, who has his workshop nearby - well worth visiting for local made wood carving. The private beach is lovely, with lots of loungers and hammocks in the shade of the trees and some rock pool areas for splashing. I wasn't confident enough to swim in the sea as it looked a little rough. Instead I swam in the larger of the 2 swimming pools. The ground and rooms are very uneven, as the hotel is built around large trees and their roots. This is not the place to stay if you are unsteady on your feet. It wasn't easy to wheel a suitcase around.

Best natural outdoor hotel/cabin experience in Portland. The place is absolutely beautiful, peaceful and the food delicious. The staff is very pleasant and the service is great. Love their private beach and not to mention that infinity pool overlooking the sea and the rocks below with the waves crashing against them. Will definitely be back!

We stayed in the Fig Tree Hut and it was an unforgettable experience. We both agreed it has to be one of the most beautiful places in the world. The bay is extremely private, the beach and cliff jump is great, the views and privacy all around the resort were excellent, the staff was very nice and accommodating. Overall amazing experience. Not a touristy area of Jamaica so don’t expect a very tourist catered experience outside of the resort, but a great place to experience culture and nature.

We chose the beautiful Great Huts resort in Boston Bay to be our home for a week. This place is a unique, ocean front hotel, that is full of art, history and African roots. Boston Bay is a consistent reef break with perfect waves for all levels of surfers located in the most beautiful bay where you can also swim, snorkel or kayak when the waves are small.

I’ve been to Great Huts at least 5 times and there’s a reason I keep going back! The location is unmatched:simultaneously in a jungle and on the cliffside. The details and the decor and the construction of each hut leaves you discovering something new each visit. The staff are all amazing! Shout out to Tanya, Viv, Dalva and all of the the amazing staff. Special thanks to Dennis, the lifeguard and surf instructor for assisting us with boards and tips. Boston beach is the perfect spot for surfers of all levels. Amazing food, service, and overall vibe! This place is a must visit whenever you’re in Jamaica 🖤💚💛
