Lovely old town house at the top of the main road that leads into the town - which is a pleasant walk by itself. House looks private at first glance, which is part of the charm, although nowhere obvious to park (you can park round the back or in the small lay-by). Inside is an elegant building with well appointed rooms on the top floor. Our room was huge, with a beamed ceiling. The open plan bathroom and lack of a shower a bit disconcerting at first, but fine for the two nights we were there. Very good breakfast downstairs (great pot of coffee). Breakfast only, but town in walking distance and excellent small restaurant a few doors up. It’s a great place for a stop-over as just off the A6, and then you find yourself in this idyllic town and wonder why anyone in France would want to live anywhere else. There’s even a wine ‘cave’ practically next door.

A lovely find on the outskirts of Semur. Large old house that has undergone major renovations and now offers an eclectic mix of modern African and Medieval French décor. Our room was extremely large with interesting beams in the ceiling and a newly fitted bathroom. Our only complaint was that you couldn’t take a proper shower as the shower was on the bath taps with nowhere to fix it. The breakfast was generous and good quality. It’s only a short walk into the very interesting town of Semur which has many restaurants.
