I made a last-minute decision to visit Shunde, and after some thought, I chose the Lingnan Garden Hotel Shunde OCT Harbour PLUS, which opened last year. This was my second time here, but the experience wasn't as good as I'd hoped. I happened to have a cultural and tourism voucher, so I ended up paying 479 RMB for a Superior King Room. I called ahead and was delighted to find out I could get a free upgrade to a Deluxe King Room 🥳.
However, after enjoying the two complimentary drinks from the package, I noticed the sink had been repaired. I called the front desk, and they moved me from the 20th floor to a room on the 22nd floor. But as soon as I opened the door, I was hit by a strong, nauseating smell from the bathroom. I almost threw up! I quickly contacted the hotel to move back to my original room. I thought that would be the end of it, but after dinner that evening, when I went to the restroom, I found the smell was still very strong, and the toilet seat had not been properly cleaned; there were still old stains. Ugh 😑, it looked quite disgusting, so I just gave up on it. Later, I also discovered an empty water bottle behind the toothbrush holder, which was also left by a previous guest.
Honestly, the hotel's hygiene is really subpar, and the cleaning definitely needs improvement. The breakfast selection was very limited, and there was nothing I really wanted to eat.
The best part was the complimentary Ferris wheel tickets for two. The Ferris wheel was especially beautiful in the evening.
