4 of us went for Sunday lunch. The two roast beef dinners were fine, the jacket potato with tuna was fine but the Vegetable Curry! It was stewed cabbage, carrots, potatoes and peas! You couldn’t tell it was a curry. I needed to add salt and pepper to give it some flavour! Extremely disappointing! No one came to ask us how our meals were until a young man came to collect the plates! I said that I was very disappointed as you couldn’t tell it was a curry. He simply smiled and said he was sorry! I wish that I’d sent it back after the first mouthful! It was disgusting. We’ve eaten here many times before and always enjoyed our meals but will not return!!

I rarely leave poor reviews but this is an exception. The room was dated, with mismatched furniture, the beds super uncomfortable. We looked at the shower and decided to give it a miss. The great reviews of this property really surprised me until I realised that we were being charged £159 for a one night stay when the usual price is half of that. For £159, we were expecting a quality room, with quality toiletries and quality breakfast. But then, it was the weekend that Ed Sheeran was in town, so some blatant profiteering going on. Breakfast was poor by anyone's standards. I asked for scrambled eggs instead of fried and was bluntly told: ' Not on a Sunday'. Fair enough, no eggs for me then but was offered nothing extra instead. Coffee was dumped unceremoniously on the table with a handful of UHT milks. I asked for fresh milk instead - you would have thought I was asking for caviar. Unacceptable for the price we paid.

Went into the Sorrel Horse inn today and ordered lunch . I had prawn salad and a side of chips , the chips were the best I’ve ever had and the prawn cocktail delicious. My two friends had steak and ale pie with a good selection of fresh cooked vegetable’s . The pie was home made with big bits of steak in it and the taste was delectable . It’s the best food we have had in a pub ever. If you want outstanding food at a good price go to the Sorrel Horse Inn Norwich Road Ipswich you won’t be disappointed .

It was a last-minute decision, myself and my parents arrived without a booking and we were offered on a table with no issues, having noticed that it seemed like they had multi reservations booked - We quickly ordered our drinks - the atmosphere of the place was very warm, the other diners around us, also seemed happy. I happened to look at the plates of food around me and it all looked great, fresh and good size portion. Upon ordering my dish, I had some dietary questions about the food. The bar staff were very accommodating in Askin in the kitchen and making sure everything was OK. The food arrived hot. The service was swift, making sure that we had everything we need to enjoy our meals. Wanting to try a different drink, the bar staff offered me a sample which resulted me in ordering and enjoying the IPA on tap. The only thing to complain about is my father telling the terrible bad dad jokes at the dinner table

Food was amazing. Waitress needs to work on her people skills. Incredibly rude. Such a shame as we was having a lovely afternoon. Won’t be rushing back!

I cannot mention the accommodation as we never stayed as we visited for food. We had been there before the new management and the service and good were lovely.. we went today after being asked out with friends (inc children) and got there at 6.30, got our food at 20.00 and between that the bar staff made mistakes with the order.. that wasn't the issue (for me). It was the blantent rudeness of a certain barmaid and the chef.. the barmaid was very defensive, rude and dismissive of what could have been managed with a refund... instead we were made to be portrayed as liars!! There was more that happened but that was that in a nutshell... it was such a shame!!! The customer is not always right as I have worked in hospitality previous and now a nurse so I am very aware of how working with people works.. however, when I worked in hospitality I never made people feel as that barmaid made us feel... it's a shame as the new management really should have taken the issue seriously!!! Another customer lost.. well done 👏

We have been coming here for years as a family. Had heard that the new Landlords were not as friendly as the previous, but as we take folk as we find them, we decided to visit when we were in the area. What a mistake. My husband walked up to the Bar to order drinks before the rest of the family were meeting here later to have a meal. As soon as he ordered, the Landlord immediately rudely stopped him and said “ I will stop you there - we don’t take your Scottish money” . Yes - my husband has a Scottish accent. But you lost a lot of custom that day, and in the future from our family who were regular visitors. No need for the attitude. And he wasn’t even going to pay in cash …

Just back from a 2 night stay with 6 others here. Staff were very friendly and nice to see a genuine pub thriving. Rooms were a tad on the small side but adequate. Good atmosphere in the pub at night and a big garden if the weather is fine for you to sit in. Breakfast was good and as we had to be away very early on the last day and would miss breakfast they made us sandwiches of our choice and wrapped them for the morning. If the need to stay in this area arose again I would book here again.
