Avondrood Guest House by the Oyster Collection

My favorive 3 nights of our 3 week trip to South Africa! Absolutely amazing guest house. The property is simply beautiful with every little touch thought of for the guests staying here. I love beingvgreeted at check in by Jaime Lee with a welcoming glass of wine while I comfortably shared my check in information. Then escorted to the magical garden suite with a patio section including both a swing as well as a little seating area with lounge chairs. Such a lovely touch. The beautiful glass double entry doors gave us a picturesque view of the garden at all times. Just entering the suite, we enjoyed the exquisitely decorated spacious open floor plan.. The king-sized bed was soooo comfy. The dressers had plenty of storage options. A desk for your laptop or planning was cool. The bathroom with a separate shower was perfect as well as a large soaker tub which was long enough for a taller person. Very nice touch. Loved the tub! In our room was a bottle of sherry for us to enjoy our first night. So delicious. The swimming pool was super refreshing. The hot tub greatvfor a relaxing soaking after a day of enjoying wines. We were assisted with ironingbof clothing as well as laundry service. Breakfast each morning, buffet style was delicious and a great selection. One of our activities was a Wine Tour. The Franschhoek Tram Station is less than 5 minute walk. After our day we walked back to the Avondrood. The staff was amazing, Karloff was especially helpful in sharing specifics about the area. We will definitely be back!

First trip to South Africa. Spent six days in Camp Bay Cape Town marvellous time had by all didn’t think we could top it. Arrived at the Avondrood Guest House for a 2 night stay to checkout some vineyards. WOW, greeted by Jamie Lee who made us feel so welcome and really went the extra mile to make us feel at home. Hotel was spotless, staff amazing, grounds perfect, rooms amazing, we stayed in ‘Sea’. Team have considered every finishing touch, from a surprise bottle of bubbles to celebrate our wedding anniversary to homemade bath salts to relax after a full day exploring. Amazing breakfast of local produce in a relaxed atmosphere. Karloff and his team are a true asset to Avondrood and the perfect hosts. Wish we could have had longer here, and now waiting for flights to be released for a return in 2026. Karloff, Jamie Lee and Team, we look forward to seeing you again next year. Sam & Steve

This is a beautiful homely guest house with plush rooms and a huge bed! The breakfasts were incredible with a huge selection on offer. The staff couldn’t be more helpful giving us loads of advice on places to go during our stay. We’d highly recommend staying here.

We stayed here on a for 2 nights, the property is set a few minutes walk from the centre of town and the wine tram. The guest house is beautifully decorated throughout with a log fire welcoming you. All the rooms are individually decorated and have any amenity you require. All the staff are really friendly and welcoming with an honesty bar. Breakfast was superb.

This is a perfect boutique hotel. Feels very luxurious with great attention to detail (underfloor heating in the large bathroom!), beautifully decorated with great thought and style for comfort. We had the garden room, which was elegant and spacious. Kim and Kar were excellent hosts, ready with a chat, or lots of advice on where to eat and what vineyards we should not miss. Kar even let me know he was popping to the supermarket and was there anything I wanted? They really make you feel genuinely welcome. Very centrally situated with a short safe walk, to a number of great restaurants.

If you visit the lovely Franschoek and do not stay in the amazing Avondrood Guest House you will be missing out. Put quite simply Karloff & team are the best hosts you will ever meet. They really made us feel at home in what is an absolutely lovely property. We loved our room. It was spacious & very well appointed. The bed was oh so comfortable. The bathroom was big & had a luxury feel with a separate shower & roll top bath, All spotlessly clean. The breakfasts were the tastiest we have had on our trip, Loads of fruit, Baked goods & of course a hot breakfast of your choice. The weather was good enough for us to eat Alfresco this morning & it was Perfect. Karloff you are a star, You clearly love Franschoek & gave us a great recommendation for dinner. Thank you so much.
