Location was the main reason why I booked this hotel, since I wanted to be in the middle of things and close enough to the railways station, which is an about 10 minutes walk from here. Rue de Lausanne, where the hotel with its 23 rooms can be found, is the pedestrianised main street in the old town of Fribourg with plenty of restaurants and cafés nearby. All main sights are in walking distance. After having booked, the hotel wrote to me that they have varying reception hours and gave me a telephone number to call them in advance. At the booking site the possibility of a breakfast is mentioned for CHF 15, but I was informed that due to Covis-19 this will not be the case. When at the hotel I could see that the reception is not always occupied, which is the reason why one has to always take the heavy room-key along. At least the main door next to the entrance to a cabaret is always open. My room was on the 5th floor out of 6, facing the Rue de Lausanne. Although there is the Italian restaurant 'Solemio' in front of the entrance and the street usually full of people, it was quiet, when I kept the windows closed. In the room was a writing desk with not a very good light and what I missed the most were reading lamps by the beds. What I didn't use on the other hand was the enormous empty fridge and the kitchen with a non-working stove. It had an electric kettle, but only tea-bags, no coffee. The bathroom was good with shampoo and shower gel dispensers by the shower and the washbasin. It had enough storage space as in the bedroom as well. No plug socket in the bathroom, but at ground level in the bedroom. The room was always very well cleaned. Staff at reception I saw only on arrival and departure. They were friendly and the bill was left in an envelope on the writing desk of my room. At departure - checkout is at 11am - I could leave my suitcase by the reception, but only till 3pm, since after that nobody would have been here anymore.
