EN HOTEL Hakata

First impression of the room not impressed, feels like “maintenance on progress” of the room. Table wasn’t clean, some dust left at the headboard. The air/ fan system wasn’t satisfy due the fan system share every rooms per floor. Fortunately, air purifier are available to borrow ( need to check is it available any spares air purifier), at least some air flow in my room. Bed and shower stall no complains, functions normal. Great location, 5-7 mins walk to Hakata St. or Tenjin St. . Hotel service excellent. Laundry room also provide good instruction and detegent automatically load during washing. Experience wasn’t full satisfy, but room service provide no doubt is excellent. Score: 7/10 (marks deduction of cleaning and fan system)

The hotel is technically in between 3 subway stations — Hakata (7 - 8 mins walk), Gion (7 - 8 mins walk), and Kushida Shrine (2 mins walk) — and also located conveniently near Canal City Hakata shopping mall, Kushida shrine, and many stores and restaurants nearby. The cleanliness of the hotel overall was good but a little less positive for the room itself, as some parts of the washroom’s privacy blinds looked like they aren’t cleaned regularly and edges of the room’s carpet were often not cleaned well (wearing slippers in the room and not touching the privacy blinds easily mitigates these concerns). A personal issue and warning for taller guests would be that the position of the toilet in the narrow bathroom (at least for the ‘cozy double’ room) requires users to face a section of the wall quite closely when seated, which would likely be uncomfortable/ impossible for people taller than 175 cm to use while sitting down (the attached photo is taken with a 0.6x camera lens). The air conditioning for the rooms was shared by a central air system which cooled the rooms well, but it is worth noting for those with sensitive noses that there was a very faint but noticeable odour of old cigarette smoke in the room despite the current no-smoke policy. The coin laundry room is very small with only 1 washing machine, 1 dryer, and 1 hybrid washer-dryer machine (also, no coin exchange machine is present), so I recommend washing mid-day or in the early evening if possible. The front desk receptionists and cleaning staff were kind and approachable (in both English and Japanese), the check-in and check-out processes were smooth, and the hotel did offer free luggage storage services after check-out. Overall, an enjoyable and budget-friendly stay.

The worst hotel experience I’ve ever had in Japan. Pictures attached for evidence. From the moment I walked in, it was downhill. The first thing you see when opening the door is the toilet, not exactly the welcome one hopes for. Worse still, the toilet’s washing wand was visibly covered in poo, which was utterly disgusting. 🤢 The room layout defies logic: the shower is positioned directly in front of the bed, turning the entire room into a humid box and creating a deeply uncomfortable lack of privacy, especially awkward if you’re sharing the space with a friend. Despite requesting a non-smoking room, my room on the 8th floor reeked of cigarettes. I asked to be moved, but the alternative room smelled just as bad, so I gave up. The lighting is dark and gloomy, and the motion-sensor lights in the entrance and bathroom turn off unless you’re constantly moving. At night you’re then dazzled by the light turning on automatically. Very frustrating experience. Everyone shares the same Wi-Fi, so the connection is unstable and insecure as it’s not encrypted. Cleanliness is poor. The walls are covered in dust. I wiped one corner with a towel and it came away covered in dust and hair. Housekeeping has been careless. Today, I left used towels outside the door and while they were taken, no one even bothered to leave a replacement on my door. The best part is that Hotel staff are generally helpful if you ask for help, so I managed to get new towels at reception. Lastly, the room has mosquitoes and the walls are so thin you can even hear people pee in the room next door. 🤯 A very poor experience from start to finish, sloppy, dirty, and badly designed. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and will not return.

The room is cozy and clean. The location is excellent—it’s conveniently situated between Hakata Station and another subway station. It’s also just a short walk to Canal City shopping mall.

We have a great time staying here nice location near canal city and hakata station room abit tiny for big carrier double bed for 2ppl can be so tight

Good places, near Kushida Shrine Station. We’ll come back when go to Fukuoka next time.
