Horizon Resort & Spa Changbai Mountain

This hotel offers good value for money. Since Tianchi Lake was closed, there were fewer guests, and consequently, fewer staff. However, the front desk attendant Xiao Gong, the shuttle driver Mr. Liu, and the aunt who takes care of the rabbits were all very welcoming. My kids loved petting and adopting the rabbits. The snow park, on the other hand, was deserted and felt a bit chilly. Our room was very warm and had a bathtub, which was great for a soak. The breakfast restaurant didn't have the heating on, only a warm air conditioner, so it was colder than the lobby. Food choices were limited, but the *dalu mian* (noodles with gravy) was delicious.

Included airport transfers (to and from Changbaishan Airport) and Changbaishan West Station transfers (to and from) were very convenient. You just need to book in advance and they pick you up directly from the airport and station. Facilities: There are many activities available, such as lakeside entertainment, and lots to explore around the hotel. It's also great for those looking to enjoy some snow activities. The hotel's interior environment is also very good. The room was spacious and very tidy.

This was my first time visiting Changbai Mountain, and the Tianyu Hotel here left a deep impression on us, just like the one in Hainan; the kids absolutely loved it. When I saw a Tianyu Hotel in Changbai Mountain, I didn't hesitate and booked it right away. The location is super close to the Changbai Mountain West Scenic Area; the hotel is right next to the West Gate ticket office, which is incredibly convenient. It's a shame Changbai Mountain was closed due to rain, what a pity! I hope to come back again. I'd suggest they build a swimming pool though. There was no place for the kids to swim!

Getting this price during the National Day holiday is really a great deal, especially for family trips. The room is very spacious and has no strange smells. The hotel offers a lot of facilities for kids. We spent basically four out of four days at the hotel, except for one day when we went to Xipo. There are two indoor and outdoor play areas, slides, zip lines, petting rabbits, feeding small animals, horse riding, and hot springs – the kids absolutely loved it. The only downside is that the surrounding area lacks good dining options; if you're driving, you can head to Wanda for food and shopping. For Xipo, just go to the Baixi Tourist Center right next to the hotel; it saves time and the lines are shorter, which is very convenient.

My child absolutely loved the indoor slide and trampoline, they had a fantastic time. The long, three-section slide is best suited for kids aged 6 and up; younger children might easily fall. The room was spacious and very clean, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. The pillows and duvet were so soft, it felt like sleeping on a cloud. However, there was an indescribable smell in the room that wouldn't dissipate even with the windows open. The toilet was a smart bidet toilet, which was incredibly useful this season – otherwise, it would have been a real 'cold bum' experience. I didn't take any photos of the room, but it looked exactly like the pictures.

Booking with a platform pre-sale voucher was quite a good deal. I consulted with the front desk in advance about changing a king-size bed room to a twin room. After confirming availability, I extended my stay for two more nights, which included breakfast for two and some paid activities. The location of Tianyu is very convenient for tourists visiting the West Slope. Baiqi Station is just a 5-minute walk away. During the off-season, there aren't many tourists on the West Slope, so buses usually depart when full or every twenty minutes. This is much better than the North Slope, where you can only enter during your booked time slot. The room is said to have been renovated; the curtains felt new. The smart toilet seat didn't quite fit the toilet properly at first; the lid wouldn't stay up and kept falling down. I had a technician adjust the position and spacing, and it finally stayed upright. The bathroom is super large, with a double vanity in the dry area and a wardrobe (there's also one at the entrance for luggage and coats). It also has a large bathtub and a separate shower. Tianyu is very suitable for families with young children, offering both indoor and outdoor animal interactions. We adults also found the corn playground quite fun. You use small machines to shell corn kernels from a pile of dried corn, and then transport them with a hand-cranked conveyor belt. Playing with a pile of dry corn kernels is cleaner than playing with sand, and it also gives your feet a nice massage. We had breakfast for three days straight; there wasn't much variety, but the soy milk, fried dough sticks, and blueberry jam are not to be missed. The bottled water in the room is Nongfu Spring, while in the restaurant and lobby, it's Quanyang Spring, both sourced from Changbai Mountain – perfect for drinking your fill. Before leaving, I also booked a travel photo shoot. They offer 5 retouched photos for each night stayed, so we negotiated 15 retouched photos in total for our three-night stay. The photographer was skilled, and my best friend and I had a great time taking pictures on the hotel's outdoor wooden boardwalk and flower fields. It was effortless to pick out our favorites. There's only one indoor hot spring pool available. Soaking in it after climbing the 1442 steps of the West Slope was really soothing. The swimming pool was closed, and I guess the four or five outdoor hot spring pools will only open during the peak winter season. Changbai Mountain West Station opened on September 28th, and the hotel provides free shuttle service, making the 30-minute journey much more convenient. It will also make transferring between the North and West Slopes much easier in the future (no more two-hour bus rides!). We were incredibly fortunate that both the North and West Slopes were open during our short stay in Changbai Mountain (Tianchi Scenic Area was closed on the days before and after our visit). Tianchi graciously revealed its serene and profound beauty to us. The autumn colors of Changbai Mountain were mesmerizing. So grateful! 🥰
