Changbai Mountain Wanda Yue Hotel

We stayed at Wanda because we wanted to visit the West Slope (of Changbai Mountain). Since there were three of us and we preferred separate beds, this was the only hotel that offered suitable room configurations. After check-in, it took us a frustrating half an hour just to get our room door open. Turns out the electronic lock's battery was dead. It's quite unbelievable that this kind of thing can happen. While they eventually apologized and resolved the issue, such problems should really be prevented proactively. Of the complimentary perks offered, only the one-way bus ride to the transportation hub was useful; the rest were not suitable for us. In the morning, there wasn't even a proper queue for the shuttle bus, and no one was there to maintain order, which was quite chaotic. Once we were on the bus, we even witnessed guests from other hotels arguing with the driver, which was quite an uncomfortable scene. The return shuttle schedule is fixed and doesn't allow for even a slight delay, making it quite impractical and more trouble than it's worth. The other complimentary benefits were also of no use to us, and after seeing generally mediocre reviews from other guests, we decided to skip them entirely. Wanda Resort is very far from the high-speed rail station; we ended up spending nearly 400 RMB just on transport. The transportation infrastructure in this area definitely needs significant improvement!

The hotel rooms were spotless and fully equipped. The resort features a cable car, Wow Lake, and various entertainment options like stand-up comedy shows. There are plenty of activities at the resort, and the overall environment is great. Guests staying in the cycling suites even receive complimentary ice cream. The front desk staff were warm and attentive, and all resort personnel were incredibly detail-oriented and meticulous. Any issues were addressed promptly, which was excellent! The hotel breakfast offered a wide variety of delicious dishes. Transportation within the resort is very convenient. We also enjoyed the excellent food and great rice wine at the log cabin restaurant near the hotel. We took the 1442 steps up the West Slope to reach Heaven Lake (Tianchi). It was a rare clear day, offering stunning panoramic views of Heaven Lake – absolutely breathtaking! We're already looking forward to coming back in winter for skiing!
