The hotel was closed, looked derelict but had us booked in for two nights, can’t speak to anyone as the phone is disconnected. Left us looking for different accommodation late into the evening. Thieves - at least Dick Turpin wore a mask 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡

We stayed here when we went to see the Trent Bore (which wasn't that impressive this time, but occasionally it very much is) and the location is very convenient for that and for the centre of Gainsborough (and the Indian - Elach's - we generally use, it's just over the road). We like staying in historic buildings and this hotel scores on that front, the owners have obviously recently taken it over and are slowly renovating it. First impressions on entering the hotel from the rear parking area weren't too good but our large en-suite room was clean and warm plus the bathroom had been recently refurbished. The breakfast was freshly prepared and thus so superior to the luke warm buffet often offered by hotels. The parking was secure, under cover, and included in the cost.

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!! (March 2024) I'm an avid reviewer so im not biased in anyway...i leave very true and accurate reviews on all businesses i review. The other reviews also say it all....1 star too many!!! Can't contact hotel, has incorrect check in times, owner rude and puts phone down when asked any question.... Try to call it back and no chance of them ever answering... Even ******* couldn't contact them. I was left high n dry in Gainsborough at 1130 at night.... I had to book another hotel in Sheffield and arrived there at 2am! Look at photo.... Check in from 230pm.... No latest time for check in.... But owner said 1030pm... And tell ******* 11pm. When they did eventually get thru the hotel refused refund so it's taken me nearly about 7 emails to ******* to eventually ******* not the hotel refunding me and they are looking at the future of the hotel on their booking platform. So you've been advised.... Look elsewhere and stay away from this slum! Check other reviews online.... All more or less the same issues!

I cannot complain about anything here,it was a comfortable clean family room which was very big, beds comfy and clean bedding and towels.Bathroom spotless. If there was anything we needed we asked and every day the staff asked if we needed anything for the room. The building is old and it does need maintenance but its clean and perfectly acceptable. Breakfast was cooked lovely and more than enough to set you up for the day. Gainsborough unfortunately is very run down and full of empty shops so it was like a ghost town after 5pm,not a single restaurant to eat except a Wetherspoon and a couple of cafes during the day. Staff at the hotel helpful and very friendly. Good value,I would not hesitate to stay again.

Not the best. Public areas were shabby, and though the room had been done up fairly recently, it still somehow felt tired. Oh, and the toilet seat fell off, and there was no shower curtain. Breakfast was a bit of a farce, with all food to order (e.g. no cornflakes or toast you could get yourself). Hash brown was somehow raw in the middle. So, whilst I've stayed in worse, I'd still suggest you stay somewhere else!

My wife had booked the hotel. When we arrived in reception, it looked very dated dirty and needed a good upkeep. The reception staff were very quiet and couldn’t speak. Good English.. He showed us our respective rooms. Mine was on the ground floor I’ll put entering the room. It was clear that there have been no cleaning of the room for what seem like months. It was worrying that the bed sheets were not clean by any stretch of the word. Upon pulling the sheets back, it did not look like they had been changed or cleaned for a long time. All the bottom sheet was wrinkled and full of creases.

Well, after a couple of months to digest my one night stay, I’ve finally got over the shock and ready to give a review. In brief: Do not go. Ever. Never ever. I had the misfortune to book on behalf of my work party of four. Whilst trying to check in, and struggling due to language issues, we’d already decided not to eat there, although whether any food was available remains a mystery. The reception area was tired, dirty and unkept. The receptionist behind the counter couldn’t find two of the keys. Eventually he obtained them from the returned room key box… more on that shortly. We divided the keys out and headed up to our rooms. My room was dirty. I’d suggest the room hadn’t been cleaned or tidied from the last guest. The shower was dirty and full of hair and other stains. Maybe my key being in the return box should have rang alarm bells. We then went out to eat. On returning I immediately noticed someone had been through my room. My bag too. Everything was accounted for and it was late so I got sorted for bed. Pulling the covers back revealed the dirtiest sheet I’ve ever had the displeasure of seeing. Every disgusting colour was smeared over the bedding. An image that will stay we me for some years has embedded itself in my mind. I contemplated booking the travelodge nearby but it was very late by then and I didn’t want to leave my colleagues behind especially since it was me who put us in there! I ended up putting my clothes from the evening back on and sleeping on a combination of a chair and on top of the duvet. No breakfast as said above. Most likely a good thing with hindsight. On checkout no one was available. When I did find someone they weren’t interested. I couldn’t even get an invoice out of them for the stay for my work. I left the place as quickly as possible and hope to never see it again. To sum up, just in case I’ve not been clear enough… Do not go. Ever. Never ever.

I didn’t get to see the room as I was told I couldn’t stay as there was no hot water , just saw the lobby and it was scruffy and run down and it was freezing, no members of staff in attendance had to communicate on phone with them through one of the cleaners , however when I was notified about the problems in the room the person I spoke to was apologetic and made arrangements for me stay at a much superior hotel which I was pleased about
