We arrived and found that I had made a mistake with the booking date. But this was no problem as the gentleman who greeted us, Sorted it with no extra charges and put us up in an available room. He did this even though the mistake was mine with no fuss whatsoever. The room we were given was spacious, very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was great and my wife who is Vegan was fully catered for. I fully recommend staying here if looking in the Selkirk area. Thankyou.

Basic B&B, Not friendly at check-in. Small & tired double room with cheap furniture and under sink cupboard with drawers & doors falling off. Comfy bed. Not impressed with cooked breakfast; slimy fried eggs and mushrooms (possibly not fried at all ?) . Veggie sausages were awful. Really don’t think room & experience was worth £110 + additional £20 for dogs. Guests coming back after 2am noisy and drunk.

Despite arriving tired and hungry after a long day on the road, we thoroughly enjoyed our overnight at the Glen Hotel in Selkirk. We stayed here as a stop on a long journey home from the West Highlands and, from the moment we stepped in to the hotel, we loved the distinctive nature of the furnishings and the grandeur of the atrium with its staircase to the upper floors rising in flights up the walls from the reception area. The beds were comfy and we enjoyed the generous breakfast as well the following morning. A refreshing stopover in a delightful upper Tweeddale town.

Stayed here for one night while walking the Borders Abbeys Way. You have to really view this as a guest house rather than a full blown hotel. It may look like a hotel and may have been one in the past, but the current owners are basically operating it as a guest house (and have been doing so for 22 years, apparently). So, you won't get full hotel facilities. For example there is no restaurant, though they do one hot dish a day which you have to pre-order if you want it. There is a bar, though for residents only and, I think, limited hours. You have to order your breakfast the night before. These are all measures taken, I imagine, to keep costs trimmed and to turn a profit, which you'd imagine would not be possible were the operators trying to run a full-scale hotel. Keep these points in mind and you'll not go wrong here. It's about a 10 minute walk into town, where there is a limited choice of restaurants. There's also a good baker which will make you up a filled roll of your choice if you need a packed lunch for walking. There is a nice garden outside where you can enjoy a pint of foaming ale or whatever your poison is after a hard day's walking. The rooms are absolutely fine, spotless and containing everything you might need. The bathrooms were very clean and fresh and have obviously been modernised in recent times. Breakfast (pre-ordered) came quickly and was hot and tasty. Overall, I would say the Glen is a well-run establishment and would recommend it.

Nice guesthouse Room was nice, spacious and clean. Rest of the hotel appeared dated. Staff were very rude on arrival. Ordering breakfast the night before is not ideal - wasn’t sure if I could go down for a coffee or cold breakfast as I did not order the night before and from the attitude of staff I felt I would be turned away so didn’t bother.

I made a last minute booking at The Glen and enjoyed it. Before I checked in, they messaged me to see if I would need a supper reservation. The host met me when I arrived later, and my room was comfortable. I went and sat in the front room for a bit in the evening, and the host came out to turn on the gas fireplace for me. My room was quite cool (which I prefer) but there was a heater available in the closet. There were several menu options for breakfast (selected the night before) and it was very nice (my first time trying kippers).
