This is a very special place for special people. If you like charm, ambiance, quiet, a lovely view, a nearby beach, a good starting point for excursions and hikes, if you prefer village life over hectic tourist traps, this is the place for you. The landlord does his best to grant your every request (and he will shower you with goodies from his kitchen and garden as well). The apartments may not be up to the latest technical standards, but for the price, we were not complaining. The wifi worked quite well, too.

A very peaceful place in Naxos to have a break. Nice flat for 4 persons, very clean, with nice terrace to have a drink. Excellent restaurant at 5 minutes by foot in Galini (taverne Platia). We'll come back for sure.

We were here for a few days in May And it was amazing... beautiful apartments, decorated with great taste and love for the envoirment. You can feel Greece in these surroundings. The view is magic and you can hear the quiet at night when you sit on your balcony watching the stars over the valley. Perfect to spend your holidays here. Close to Naxos town with a little taverna and a remarkable restaurant down the street. A real treasure hidden away in Galini. Outstanding hospitality aswell. A place to return to...

Having spent a number of Christmases and New Years in Athens, how about experience something different in the countryside on an island? Having known Vangelis for many years and spent time at his accommodation in Chora, we were in need of a retreat. You reach the Filoxenia after negotiating winding streets and putting your driving skills to the test. A car is definitely required. But it is worth the effort. Our room was big and great, centrally heated, and with a magnificent view of the valley and the mountains beyond. The interior decoration reveals the host's interest in Naxos history. Weather was not on our side but we had some breakfasts at the balcony and enjoyed the morning serenades of feathered friends. With warmer temperatures you can enjoy the garden and have a barbeque before sunset. Galini is a sleepy village at this time. There is a small coffee house, where friendly locals gather, but the opposite taverna had not yet opened. But in nearby Engares you find Stella's taverna with genuine Greek food. 2-4 dishes per day; well prepared and using products from their own farm. And Stella is a fantastic woman. You can do a lot of walking/driving in the surroundings. Be amazed by the varied production in the valley. Fruits, vegetables, sheep, chicken. So many small farms that supplement incomes by work in the capital. A nearby beach where you are probably fairly alone even in summer. Now, even a hardened Scandinavian like myself abstained from getting wet. Fresh is the word. Vangelis took us on a winding tour up the mountains to a small excavated church with a breathtaking view of the valley, surrounding mountains and the ocean. And there is always Chora some 6 km away if you are afraid of becoming a monk. Best of all, Galani makes you forget the noise, congestion, pollution and what not of major cities and reminds us where we all came from.

We live in a very busy city Cairo in Egypt so we needed a calm relax place in our vacation. And we found it in this small cosy hotel with apartments to rent in Galini village that its just 10 min driving from capital of the island. Every morning we could have breakfast on the balcony & watching amazing green valley. Its so quiet place that you sleep like a baby )) Owner is a very friendly guy who is ready to assist you in any case. HE can bring you on his farm if u are interested & offer a tasty home made jam. Really enjoyed our stay.

Going to any Greek island in August always sounds like foolish idea for someone that wanted peace, quiet, tranquility and rest - and especially a popular island like Naxos. Until I came across this glorious hotel in the village Galini 6 km from the Harbour town Hora. With only half a dozen rooms it's a small but beautifully fitted hotel, and the "Honeymoon suite" I was lucky enough to stay in had rustic furniture with daybed, comfortable bed, kitchenette, coffee maker and was decorated with Lace & Cotton of your Country Cottage dream. But by no means ending up a frilly affair. But perhaps the best part of staying at this gorgeous flower-framed hotel was the owner himself, Vagelis, I never had the chance to go his farm but was treated to his own orange marmelade for my stay, sweet orange to take home and greeted with a small glass of Kitron before I was shown to my room. He was friendly, accommodating, kind and most helpful - from tips to actually driving me in to Hora the morning I was set to leave. Galini has a small(read: tiny) supermarket that has a little deli and two excellent tavernas. And if you don't have a driver's licence like me; to get to Hora you could walk, take a taxi, hitchhike or take the only bus in to Hora that passes the main road around 10.30am (or 11, they're not so prompt) on weekdays only. The bus to return leaves HOra around 2pm You get the tickets from the supermarket. I never tried hitchhiking or walking, though I saw people jogging and walking along the road. I usually took the bus in the morning and took a taxi back in the evening. I paid between 10-15 euro for the journey to Galini, most often it was 12 euro. This was the best place I possibly could have stayed in, I will definitely return, thank you, thank you, thank you Vagelis!

Naxos is a (thankfully) undiscovered gem of the Aegean. This wonderful home in the beautiful little village of Galini, an easy ride from Naxos port town, is a treat. The owner, Vangelis, puts his personal artistic touch on the interior and exterior (including samples of local food products). He is a sweet man who invited our 8-year-old son to pick apricots on his family farm nearby. Views of the gorgeous landscapes all around, including the marble quarries on top of a mountain.

This honestly was the most beautiful accommodation I have ever stayed in. The fact that it's in Galini makes it even more special, as there isn't a lot there (which is perfect for what we wanted!) Galini contains a small shop and two great restaurants. It's the real Greece. When we went to Naxos Town, I missed the happiness and peace of Galini. The apartments feel very special, and ours (the honeymoon suite no less!) was full of cute decorations with a beautiful view of the valley. Vagelis, the boss, made it really special for us, and he even have us some marmalade from his farm and citron alcohol. The apartment contained a balcony and a mini kitchen with a little fridge, so we could cook our own breakfasts. The bathroom was nice and clean. I cannot stress how beautiful the apartments are. It's on top of a small hill, and we were woken up by roosters crowing. At night, in the beautiful garden of the apartments, you can't hear anything except the crickets. On our last day Vagelis kindly gave us a ride back to the port in the flatbed of his truck! Real traditional Greece! I love these apartments, and I feel sad to have left. I'd love to go back every month.

Alessandro e Martina
