Leonardo Hotel Newcastle Quayside Reviews

Upon checking in the lade receptionist was quite rude to us never smiled either . In the evening we went to eat in the bar salad came with mud still on the leaves which then put us off our meals, I asked for refund . Receptionist came refunded our salad but not once from the restaurant staff or the receptionist did I receive an apology which is unheard of . Later I asked same receptionist for a late checkout as being a Leonardo Hotels member you can get this free of charge he said yes I shall mark that down. Today at 10am I was wanting to check that the evening receptionist had noted it down luckily I had checked as he hadn't even done it . The lady receptionist had to put it on . Would I stay again absolutely not .

One of my favourite hotels for a great stay . The rooms are so spacious. Got a beautiful room overlooking the tyne river.

Good location, only 10 minutes walking distance from good restaurants. Very nice bed and shower. Good breakfast as well but the gluten-free options were very very limited.

Great location good for the price, decor needs a revamp as well as bathrooms, good breakfast and cheap parking but need to arrive early as limited spaces available.

Hotel was nice staff in bar and restaurant couldn't find, ran out off Nutella for breakfast pancakes my grandson has food intolerance doesn't eat much but loves his croissants and pancakes.staff on desk s lovely

Modern hotel, located on the Quayside in Gateshead, with views of Newcastle City Centre, The Tyne and the Millennium Bridge. The hotel car park was full on arrival and we had to park at another Car Park five minutes walk away, which the receptionist suggested, at a cost of £5.90 for 12 hours and then extend for a further four hours to avoid a penalty ticket. Suggestion. Perhaps the hotel could negotiate a preferential or discounted rates for their guests! First impressions of the reception and bar areas were favourable. However, things deteriorated after this. The hotel looks tired and needs some investment in the bedrooms. The corridor on the second floor was dirty and didn’t appear to have been vacuumed that day. Rooms were small and basic. A Double and a single bed have been crammed into the room, which didn’t leave a great deal of floor space. Perhaps, this is so they can accommodate coach parties. No safe in the room or even a box of tissues. Bath was chipped, wood surrounding the bath had been replaced at some point, by a five year old child, judging by the quality of the work. Bathroom mirror needed replacing, as the silver reflective coating was flaking. Breakfast buffet was adequate, but not worth the money being charged. Hot food, but no vegetarian options, other than mushrooms or potatoes or remnants of scrambled egg. Not a Four Star experience, despite four stars outside the Main entrance. This was a really good hotel very central to Newcastle quayside with great views. This is worth a stay. Staff were very friendly and polite

Enjoyed the hotel, great location but a little walk from public transport 15 to 30 mins depending. Parking a bit of a challenge for no real reason other than council control to make a profit. Hotel parking good during the day but get there after 4pm and it's a challenge, get there after 6pm and just park on the street outside 6pm to 8am.

Overall good experience, staff were lovely and helpful. However , Breakfast was a bit limited. It was bearable for 2 nights stay, I think I would run mad if my only option of hot food was bacon, egg and sausages for a week.  The runner carpet in the hallways could do with an upgrade.
