Absolutely fantastic! The bathroom was huge, and the room decor was beautiful and cozy. The whole hotel had so much character. Both butlers were great and spoke Chinese. They even gave us a hand-drawn map with recommendations for food and shopping. You can also order bird's nest to be delivered to your room in the evening. If you stay two nights, you get afternoon tea. You can even rent Nyonya attire, which I regret not doing – the price was great, much cheaper than outside.

This guesthouse was my last accommodation on my trip to Malaysia, and the only one I booked. It was exactly as I imagined, even exceeding my expectations. Its antique charm, just like its name, is full of heartwarming stories. The passage of time has distilled beautiful memories. It's not just a place to stay, but a culture, rich with profound Chinese sentiment! And then there's the handsome guy at the front desk. He's a genuine Chinese Malaysian with fluent Mandarin, and he'll tell you a lot about local culture and food, and he's great at telling stories from a hundred years ago. The owner definitely hired the right person; he'll certainly bring in repeat customers. Plus, it's convenient to get anywhere from here, and most importantly,汕头街 (Shantou Street) is right next door. As long as you can eat it all, you're good to go. You absolutely must try the breakfast at 大东 (Da Dong) (recommended by the handsome guy, and he was absolutely right!). I highly recommend Lim Eng Story House (five stars!)

The room was spacious and the service was excellent. They even provided a complimentary fruit platter every day, and if you stayed for two nights or more, you'd get special local pastries. The location was super convenient for getting everywhere. The only downside to the old town was that it could be a bit noisy at night.

Having Chinese-speaking staff was also very convenient. The location is great, very close to shopping areas, so we could easily come back for a rest in the afternoon. They even sell chocolates, which is handy if you don't have time to go out and buy them; the prices are reasonable. It's a hundred-year-old building, and it was surprisingly quiet.
