The hotel is small but charming, and conveniently located for sightseeing. There's a large supermarket and a 7-Eleven nearby, making it easy to grab food. I arrived quite late on the first day, and the front desk staff, a local guy who didn't speak Chinese, was very patient and enthusiastic during check-in. The room doesn't provide toothbrushes, but they were quickly brought up when I asked. After checking out, I stored my luggage and went out. Halfway through my day, I realized I'd forgotten some jewelry. I immediately called the hotel, and they helped me find it. Luckily, the front desk attendant that day was a Chinese guy, so I could communicate without any issues during that urgent situation – I'm very grateful! The only downsides were finding some small flying insects in the room on the second night, and the slightly noticeable noise from modified motorcycles passing by outside. Overall, I highly recommend this place and would definitely stay here again on my next trip to Penang.

The hotel room was tiny, and the pool was miniature. If you're unlucky enough to encounter a staff member who doesn't speak Chinese, the service isn't great. Checking out felt like they were trying to find anything to charge you for; even a small mosquito stain could result in an extra cleaning fee. Ctrip doesn't seem to care... Oh, and the soundproofing is also poor.

It seems to be a renovated old building; the exterior is ordinary, but the facilities inside are good, and the room size is ample. The rooftop pool is just okay for a dip, but with a few people in it, it feels cramped. As soon as you enter the lobby, you're greeted by the aroma of coffee, giving it a distinct Nanyang feel. The hotel's location is also excellent, making it convenient for exploring the old town and dining. The photos were taken from the annex.

Since the room was too small, I realized that next time I visit a tropical region, I must choose a larger room. My mom can't tolerate air conditioning, and a small room without AC would be stuffy. Aside from the small room, everything else was good. It offers great value for money. I recommend future guests book one of their larger rooms. It's very quiet, and I slept soundly at night. Guanghua Building is just across the street from the hotel. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall is within walking distance. It's an 18-minute walk to the famous Dongjia Hotel where you can see the sea. Getting to other places by taxi isn't too far either.
