The Edison George Town Reviews

Really enjoyed my stay at The Edison Penang. The staff were super welcoming and really made us feel like family. The building itself is beautiful and has a lot of stories and history behind it, which gives the place a really nice character. They also gave us a very useful list of eateries to try around Penang, which was really helpful for finding good local food. Great stay overall and would definitely come back!

The hotel is renovated from a 120 years mansion. We like the design and decoration of the hotel and we think it is beautiful. The room is spacious. The staff are friendly and helpful.

Hospitality was great and helpful. And there's 24 hours pantry for work. And the environment of this place was indeed pretty chill to stay over.

Even though the house has an old-fashioned vibe, the facilities inside are excellent, especially the service, which made me feel very welcome. Albert Tan introduced me to all the hotspots in Penang – where to go and what to eat – which showed a level of enthusiasm I haven't experienced at other hotels. I later realized the hotel's location is fantastic, with many trendy spots nearby. It was a public holiday at the time, and due to the price, I only stayed one night. If the price is right, I would definitely choose this place again next time. Highly recommended!

Strongly recommend this little gem in George Town. The hotel is very beautiful, staff so kind and helpfull. The lounge accessible all day/night long is very convenient. Thanks again to all the team who made our stay wonderful!

Stayed for two nights and forgot my travel pillowcase. I checked out at 1 PM, left the key at the front desk, and went to explore the Blue House across the street. After lunch, I returned to the hotel at 3 PM to pick up my luggage, but still didn't remember my pillowcase, and the hotel didn't remind me either. Guess I'll have to buy a new one when I get home.

The Edison is a beautiful hotel. All staff were great, Albert the manager was very helpful and quick to sort issues such as the bright light coming through the door, he covered it nicely so I could get a good night sleep. He also provided a list of great restaurants. We got a later checkout and ended up staying another night than we had originally planned. The hotel is situated in a good location to walk to sites and shops. There is also a 24/7 snack bar if you feel a bit peckish at night. YJ, Tamil and Chris were all so helpful. Toiletries are provided daily. Wifi did not work in my bedroom but I would definitely recommend this hotel. 🙂

I like the location. It's walking distance to UNESCO Georgetown. And there is a hawker center type food outlet just opposite with singers belting out Thai, mandarin and Cantonese numbers. Though it ends at 12 midnight. It's an old mansion converted into a boutique hotel. Not able to drop off at hotel, as gate is not opened. Reception is facing main door. Staffs are friendly and helpful. I stayed on the ground floor which is very convenient. The room is comfortable, though being an old mansion, the light switches are not the most convenient.There is no water kettle in room, hence a lounge that is opened 24 hours where there are hot water, drinks and snacks.. The sound insulation is not very good, can hear singing and noise from outdoor pool. Lucky not staying on 2nd floor as stairs is very narrow and tight. There is an outdoor pool which I did not manage to view.

I was careless when booking my hotel for this trip; I accidentally booked it a month later than my actual travel date and only realized it when checking in. Luckily, I met a very kind Chinese-speaking lobby manager who helped me rebook the last available room for that night without any extra charge. This was a stark contrast to a female receptionist at another 'East India Hotel' in the same city. Next time I'm in Penang, I'll definitely stay at The Edison again.

Excellent location , well situated , covenient to walk to all the nearby place of interest .  All the hotel staffs are polite and friendly .  Breakfast was simple but very well put together.  Guest are able to have a free flow of drinks and snacks at anytime in the delightful lounge area.  Will come back to stay if we are in Penang again .

The room was great and spacious, with a strong century-old architectural charm. The owner was also very kind, patiently explaining places to explore and eat. The hotel's breakfast KAYA jam was delicious too.
