Woods at Sasan

I’ve never had a better experience than what I had at Woods @ Sasan. Lovely hospitality, safe and secure surroundings, excellent food, wonderful therapies, massages, and other options that will help you unwind — yoga, tree hugging, live music by locals, bonnet breakfasts with a view — other than the Gir forest, Somnath is 45 minutes away. Do not miss this place with spacious rooms and comfortable surroundings.

Everything was amazing. Ms. Sunita gave us an incredible massage. The food was freshly made absolutely delicious!. The staff was friendly and helpful. The property was very clean and well maintained. Amazing experience. Will definitely visit again.

Our recent stay was far from pleasant, and honestly, we left more frustrated than relaxed. The food at their restaurant Terracotta was below average, nowhere close to what you would expect from a place that claims to offer a premium experience. To make things worse, their service is painfully slow—we repeatedly had to wait far longer than reasonable for even basic requests. To be fair, the food at Swadesh was excellent, and it was the only highlight of our visit. But whatever goodwill that created completely vanished at checkout. Instead of a smooth and polite process, we were dragged into an unnecessary argument over a restaurant billing issue. The staff’s attitude was unprofessional and made the entire end of our trip unpleasant. Overall, this stay was disappointing and stressful. Definitely not worth the money or the hassle. I would not recommend this place until they fix their food quality, improve their service, and train their staff to handle billing issues respectfully.

We stayed at The Woods in October 2025 as a family of 4, plus 2 grandparents. This hotel is undeniably beautiful and has all the makings of a true 5-star experience. The grounds, the architecture and the facilities are impressive, and it’s considered one of the best hotels in Gir. However, a few consistent shortcomings held it back for us as a family. Pros Stunning grounds and a peaceful setting Warm, friendly staff Spacious, beautifully designed rooms (we stayed in a Pavilion Room) Very clean and comfortable – even with two trundle beds for our children (ages 9 and 12), we had plenty of space Lovely pool area Excellent food and drinks – both Indian and Western options, and genuinely delicious. Cons: Cleanliness of shared outdoor areas needs serious attention - Litter around the grounds and pool remained untouched throughout our stay, even after we raised it twice with staff. Poolside toilets also didn’t meet 5-star standards. This was the biggest disappointment and the main reason for my 3-star rating. Slow service - Be prepared to wait up to 1.5 hours for room service or even simple requests like towels. Billing errors were frequent - We had to correct our meal and drinks bills several times. Limited availability on menus - Quite a few food and drink items weren’t in stock. No umbrellas by the pool loungers - This made it uncomfortably hot during the day, especially with children. Slow buggy service - be prepared for a 45 minute delay for a buggy to take you around the resort. Good to know (not necessarily negatives, but worth noting before booking): The wine shop only sells spirits. The room layout includes an outdoor shower and an indoor bathtub but no enclosed indoor shower. If it rains, you will quite literally shower in the rain. Special Thanks: A special shout-out to Rajeshree at Terracotta. She was consistently warm, attentive, and thoughtful. She remembered our preferences (bottled water, no ice) and offered the kind of genuine 5-star service we had hoped to experience throughout the hotel. Overall: This is a gorgeous property with wonderful staff and great food, but standards around cleanliness, service speed and general resort cohesiveness need improvement to justify its 5-star reputation and rates. If those areas are addressed, it could easily be exceptional. If my friends and family asked for recommendations unfortunately I would not recommend this hotel in its current state of service.

The experience at Woods at Sasan was nothing short of perfection. The staff; Lydia, Yogesh and Vijay were very warm and welcoming and made sure we had a comfortable stay throughout. The interior of Pavilion was immaculate, offering a wide patio seating surrounded with greenery and an exterior open shower. The housekeeping team ensured everything remained spotless throughout our stay. The spa and wellness facilities were rejuvenating. Dining at Swadesh with live music was an amazing experience. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate our preferences. Concierge services helped us explore the city effortlessly, arranging exclusive experiences like Gir Safari and Fishing by the river that made our trip even more memorable. They also conduct yoga, pottery, and water painting sessions. Overall, Woods at Sasan exceeded all our expectations. If you are seeking relaxation, fine dining and warm hospitality, this hotel delivers on every front. Highly recommended for those looking for a truly five-star experience!
