Mid City Motor Inn

We arrived to be greeted by a mongrel dog owned by one of the long term residence. There's a car with no number plates, full of trash parked in front of their unit. The guy upstairs did a drug deal right in front of me. The bins are located at the front of the hotel so it's one of the first things you see, they were all overflowing and reeked, they probably don't get cleaned after bin day pick up. We haven't even stepped into our room and we are already dreading what we might find. Well it was as expected, beds weren't made properly, pillows looked like someone threw them on the bed from the doorway, the room smelt dirty and unclean. We used own our bed linen we were fortunate enough to have with us. The so-called drinking glasses were filthy and still had someone's lip impression around the top of the glass. The latch on the door was broken and just hanging there doing absolutely nothing. We had showers and while doing so there was a disgusting odour coming up from the drains. We had booked the unit for 2 nights, we stayed one night as we had driven a long way to get there and it was Good Friday and there wasn't any other accommodation close by. We left very early the next morning, never to return again.

The room and the linen was clean. Microwave did not heat food in Room 14 even though it appeared to operate. Location was good near East Shores. Aircon working well during a heat wave. No face to face contact.On arrival you ring a number and receive a code for a lock box holding room keys as well as WiFi code.

Rooms are in need of a serious upgrade. We had mould on the ac and also on the curly cord on hairdryer. The freezer section of the fridge was impacted with ice. On the plus side the bathroom was clean and all linen was clean too.

When you arrive, despite it saying reception is staffed during business hours, you have to call to get your room key because there's never anyone in reception. There was no instructions/booklet in the room which sets out expectations during the stay or nearby entertainment. I messaged twice asking for the wifi password but never received a reply so we had to use mobile data the whole stay. The wifi connection I was told to use didn't even appear in my wifi options, although 3 different midcity wifis popped up, all password protected. The bathroom door was brand new, not even a coat of paint was applied to it. It wasn't cut to fit the door frame properly and wasn't able to be closed. There was no hardware attached to the door either, no handles or anything. We ended up putting a chair up against the door when in use to stop the door swinging open. No dishwashing liquid or sponge to do dishes. Can't imagine dishes have ever been cleaned by previous visitors given the hair I got out of my coffee the first morning. No extra toilet paper either. One roll to last 2 people 2 nights. Loud tenants all hours of the night despite many signs throughout the complex about noise between certain times. Looked like someone had previously attempted to break into our room with damage around the key hole and entrance. It did the job for what we needed which was mainly just a bed at night but improvements need to be made.
